I have just bought a UK spec Quest and am interested in getting some larger scale mapping than the city select it comes with.

On the Quest page ( http://www.garmin.com/products/quest/ )on the Garmin website it shows TOPO Great Britain as being compatible with limitations.

However on their cartography page ( http://www.garmin.com/cartography/ ) it doesn’t show TOPO Great Britain.

Can anyone please tell me:

Is TOPO Great Britain available and if so from where and how much?
What are the limitations of its use with Quest?

Ta very muchly.:D

Not sure if this is of any use but at the Basingstoke GPS show on Saturday The Garmin rep said that OSGB Navigator for the Quest series would be available early next year at about £150-170. Best scale would be 1:50000. He thought you would get a couple of "counties" on each memory load of the European model

Thanks Kritou.

Just got an email back from the horses mouth:
Dear Abel
TOPO Great Britain will be out new year we dont have a date of a cost at the moment.
The quest has 244mb free to put maps on.
I see the one you got was more comprehensive.:D

Obviously I don't know what format the OS maps for Garmin units will be in, but as a rough comparison, the 1:50000 OS maps I have on my PC take up about 2 gigabytes for the whole UK.

Yeah I have got the full anquet mapping on my laptop. Wont work with the Quest tho.:(

In what way ?? The topo mapping or the ability to use it to transfer waypoints and tracks and routes ?

I use GPSU to archive all my tracklogs, and often look at specific items on Anquet by directly importing to and from the Quest. Maps are the only issue.... the vector format is incompatible.

You can tho' use tools like GPSU to do this as it converst mapping and file details between formats.

BTW - you gonna be around Xmas week . Was thinking about a brekkie run to the Silver Ball or High Beach if they
are open :)

:o I think it may be cos my Anquet isnt strictly legal. :o
It wont recognise a GPS attached via USB, only by COM port. I may have to pay up so I can get the updates I guess.
