After a long ride out today, I found myself in an area I don't know well, so I simply told my 2610 to go HOME.

As the route was roughly in the direction I expected, I paid little attention.

Unttil the route veered off and lef me to SPC which had hijacked HOME.

My original HOME had been replaced with some random characters.

So, I deleted the SPC version of HOME, deleted the random characters that had invaded my driveway and labelled it HOME.

OK, so now my 2610 has HOME.

But, in the FIND menu, I can't see any 'button' for HOME.

Have I done summat very silly? Or am I suffereing from Garminspeak?

I don't know if it's the same on the 26xx as the quest, so I may be wrong......but the 'Home' location isn't a normal WP......it's set from inside a menu....it sounds like yours is just a normal WP called 'home' so it's not showing this 'button'.

Is there not a keypush shortcut?? (On the quest you push and hold 'find' for a second and it takes you there)...if there is, what does it do when you try it now??

If nothing, then it ain't set.....You'll need to dig around in the menu to do so.

As a last resort, you could always RTFM ;) :D

If you change the language used for text display, that will sometimes screw up the location of the HOME waypoint, because different words (maison, zu hause, etc.) are used in different languages.

Have a look for a waypoint listed in the user waypoints directory called 'HOME', and delete it. Then re-create the home waypoint from the menu that allows you to designate a home waypoint.

I've never felt the need to chnage the language setting from English. It's what I habitually use :D :D

However, after all the playing about with route planning that I did last week, I did discover on Saturday that the 'Route to Home' feature had returned - and that my newly minted Home was, in fact, where I live.
