Someone has tried to break the steering lock on my 2005 R1200GS.

Most helpful those Sherlocks guys. I recently got a used rear brake master cylinder for £55. It's virtually as new so very happy.

I found out that my Abus disc lock will just fit into the triangle of frame where the 12v socket lives (I never use the socket). A couple of straps holds it in place so I've always got it even if I'm 'luggageless'. I also carry an Abus U-lock in the 'made for a u-lock' underseat storage but at the very least I've conditioned myself to use the disc lock any time I park and the bike is out of sight.

I carry a chain and padlock in a Motrax bag bungeed to the pillion seat. It's a hefty English Chain and shutter padlock in fabric sleeve. Though it's not a super dooper that weighs half as much as the bike. Its long enough to go through the frame just behind the rear shock and around a typical bike park ground hoop. That way they have to cut the chain rather than bolt crop the frame.
