Testing the scrambler and urban on Saturday.

I don't know why as I love my 2016 GS.

I just love the look of the other 2.....

If I change it will be my 5th brand new bike in 5 years!

Me too, I picked up my new Gs Rallye & spotted the demo urban GS sat in the showroom, went back to collect some spares, did a road test on Monday, collected Urban on Wednesday, SO, own both bikes & the Urban is FUN, but not really an alternative to the Gs for long distance travelling..

GS Rallye and GS Urban. That's a pretty looking garage! :-)

Now is that because both bikes had their standard seats fitted?

I believe they were all standard seats, yes. I recall the salesman did mention there's a comfort option for the Pure / R9T and Scrambler (I think) but the standard red seat on the Urban was a lot more comfortable than the standard seats on the others....which were really quite hard.

The standard seat on the Urban is the same seat that can be specced (as a no cost option) on the Scrambler. The only difference being the seat cover

I doubt there is any difference in the riding positions of the two bikes when they are both fitted with the same height seat but I will have a sit on an Urban when I'm next in the dealership :thumby:

The bars might have been set slightly back towards the rider on the Urban I rode.......but may also be slightly different bars (not sure). The combination of the comfy seat, nose fairing and bars made it the only one I would go for, but as you say, all that stuff is available for the other models (which I didn't realise at the time).

When I bought my SX two weeks ago I sat on both, side by side, the SX had the high seat.. They are both identical IMO just the seat cover, colour, high mudguard, exhaust, and headlight cowl...

For a smallish reasonably tall bike the red seat on my Urban X is reasonably comfy, I've only done approx 150 miles on one afternoons ride in the Derbyshire area but it felt ok. I moved the handlebars forward & fitted a sat nav, other than that its standard bike with Knobblies, Tck 80 I think..

Yes, both bikes are great but for different purposes, they say you need a whole herd of bikes as one alone just doesn't cut it..!
& yes it was almost divorce time when I bought the urban 3 weeks after the Rallye..

I would not waste your money, yes they look good, but I found the R nite T slow and hard, heavy too for what it was suppoes to be. there are far more better bikes and less money for a fun blat around on twisty stuff for a weekend ride. but that said the GS WC 2017 does a pretty good job anyhow.

Ok, only tested the scrambler in the end, mainly due to the exhaust looking and sounding much better than the urbans.

I was really surprised how fast it was, easily felt as healthy as my 2016 GS LC, snapping the throttle open in 2nd at around 30mph brought the front up nice and easy.

Unfortunately it had knobblys on, and they felt very vague on roundabouts. I would need to test it again with road tyres at some point.

Luckily enough I didn't like it enough to swap the GS for. Maybe in a year or 2 :)

I know where you're at on this one .

I too have a brand new Rallye but love the look of the urban . I'm sure I'd hardly ride it too , but I still want one . :nenau

I did the same from 2007 onwards. I can't say how many bikes it was but it certainly helped bike registration. If you like bikes and it doesn't cause you a problem then don't feel guilty, have as many as you like.

I bought a (nearly) new RnineT in May 2015 (only had 50 miles on it).. September came and i test rode the new 1200 GSA LC after riding an 1150 GSA SE for the best part of 11 years and swore i'd never get rid of it.. As soon as i test rode the new LC i new i would have one. Sold the SE privately and bought the GSA, fast forward to June 2017 and the new Urban GS launch day. Test rode it, loved the look of it but couldn't justify having 3 bikes so decided against it.. End of the month came and my local dealer rang me up and made me a really good offer, picked up the new Urban 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it. Got a week off now and intend to put some miles on it before the 1st service on the 5th Aug...Do it, you won't regret it!!

Same here, or similar circumstances.. taking mine in van through France (the boring motorway bit) to possibly Bordeaux, then unload for a few days riding the Pyrenees area to Andorra, starting Friday all being well.
At the moment, I'm not regretting it.! :beerjug:
