For many years, several of us have been going to Le Mans for the 24-hour race in June, always having a good time. However, since the ending of Covid and the arrival of the (very good) hypercars, the ACO have somehow changed the ‘atmosphere’ around the whole event. Sadly, it’s become very ‘corporate’ and headed the same way as Goodwood, Wimbledon, the rugby at Twickenham and a shedload of other sporting events. In short, it’s lost its charm. 2025, might be our last year.

With this in mind, I thought I’d give the WEC 6-hour race at Spa, a go. I’ll be using my motorhome, pitching-up at the circuit to a pre-booked spot with electrical hook-up. Whilst I have been to Spa several times (it’s a great circuit for spectators) the 6-hour race will be a new one for me.

I think I’d like take in the 24-hour CrowdStrike GT cars race at Spa, too. With luck, I can go: Le Mans > Cochem (for Doc’s thing) and come home via Spa, not least as it’s on the way(ish) to Calais.

Did the Crowdstrike 24hrs last year, staying at a small B&B near the track (http://www.aeaventures.com/). It was great fun, with some very good (and LOUD) classic cars in the support races. The vibe was very much old school Le Mans - very relaxed, not too crowded and all the grandstands were open and free. This was just after Crowdstrike caused that HUGE crash on all the IT systems...
Heading off tomorrow for the 8hrs of SPA to watch endurance bikes.

Luck has, near enough, gone my way. All three are possible and, GWWP, I’ll be off on Friday for the whole of June.
