Looking for a way out
I got some strange behaviour today.
Towards the end of a 100 mile run or so...
Slow down for a corner, open the throttle to accelerate out, and for maybe half a second (or less) nothing, and then bang the power comes back in. It probably did it 7 or 8 times, before I got to my destination.
The suddenness when it comes back in strongly suggests electrical.

It's a 60k, 1150 and it was wet if that helps?

Any advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Jim

But surely then she'd stutter and cough and fuck about Chris?
Dunno - there was a long post about water in the tank and what to do about it recently. Someone mentioned that the fuel pick up would be more likely to suck any water up (if in tank) when cranked over...
Otherwise what about the ignition wires broken at headstock problem.

check ignition switch cable just switch it on and try jiggling cables to see if you get flickers on the lights n things

water in fuel possibility too is the wee drain at 9 o'clock as you sit on the bike clear or blocked

@ Aidan its injected it just spits it thru but it won't burn

Jimbo if its blocked check your local autofactors for Wynns dri fuel and unblock yer hole CAREFULLY

I'd check the ignition loom cables, it happened to me, first while full lock slow turn then on a straight. It was obvious what wires had gone and no problems since I rewired it. Total loss of everything then back on, I was surprised by the condition of the wire that it actually started in the first place.
You'll need a tiny allen key, think about 1.5 - 2mm irrc for the ignition bit and just remove the tank retainer bolt on the right and move tank back, no need to remove fully. St.Eptoe has explained in previous posts, thats how I diagnosed my faulty wiring. My bike stats are very close to yours, 62000 on the clock, 04 reg.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Sid

Cheers chaps, will look tomorrow and see if the problem repeats.
I doubt it's water in the tank- the tank is over half full and there was no stutter etc. open the throttle and nothing, and then instantly the power is back with a lurch, and then it pulls cleanly.

I know over the years the word hall sensor keeps coming up. Do they give any symptoms before giving up?

As a general rule.....

Anything that sounds like, feels like and logically SHOULD be a fuel problem will be an electrical problem

DAMHIK :blast

Twin or single spark?

A failing coil stick gives strange throttle response. My old 1150GSA had at least half a dozen in the 4.5 years I owned it.

:D So simple when you know!

I'd go with Rob on the coil packs, gone through about 5 in 74,000 miles.

Steptoe did a post about checking them out.
