I'm a bit sheepish at posting this. I love my 2014 GSA and can't fault anything, other than the gear change, BUT sometimes the gear change is so slick and I wonder why other times it isn't.
Well I've had a sudden discovery, that its actually a noise issue, rather than a feel. Last weekend, with my earplugs well in, my gear change was as slick as butter and I'm now thinking that it's noise that spoils the gear change. Get those ear plugs well in and give it a try :hide

were all the box,s clunky...my2005 is sweet....great gearbox....i recently had a blat on a 2011 model and the box was horrible...bike only had 12.000 miles and mines got 53.000...mine was way better...tbh mine was allround better....

My 2014 GS gearbox was horrible and nothing to do with noise. Most of the time changing gear was a real chore, stiff, clunky and I'd feel an unpleasant shock through the gear change lever.

I read a while ago that GS LC gearboxes are sensitive to the oil level and are better if it's not too high.

Mine was always towards the top of the sight glass. If I still had the bike I would try running it with slightly less oil.

Ive had a similar experience with several bikes. Sometimes the gear changes run crisp and sometimes its like a different bike. I believe its a physical hand, wrist and foot co-ordination issue. Sometimes you get all three just right and you are 'in the zone' and other times one or more is slightly out of synch resulting in crap changes.

Don't they call that 'the character of a bike?' The GS has plenty of it, which means every ride is different.
