To give the OP a clue as to the area he is asking for locations over, this is a circle with a 30 km radius of Calais:

Even excluding the blue bit, it’s quite significant. He might well be advised to narrow it down a bit or we’ll be here all day.

For those with a memory longer than yesterday’s TellyTubbies on CBBC, Watten on the 30km border at roughly 4 o’clock was where the boatload of illegal migrants capsized, drowning several including the girl of nine. It’s a long way from the sea.

By chance, I know of the perfect off-grid (quiet local D road and a tiny village) camping spot but it’s maybe outside of the OP’s range.

I used to stop there for a picnic on Wanders but unfortunately the tables have gone.

It even has a fresh running stream to wash in and a secluded side road to keep the bike in.

google earth is your friend . pick your direction , and look.
i have ...camped in the middle of a HUGE roundabout , the trick is to be out of sight , with 2 camo tarps to hide the bike , 1 is rarely enough.
hiding the bike is usually the hardest thing to do.
at least 1/2 a mile from any house .

Go to the ferry terminal building in Calais, which is dry, warm, with loos and open 24hrs a day for free.
Take your mat & sleeping bag and be comfy all night.

In which direction are you heading from / to Calais? As that might dictate which hedge, ditch, bus shelter, wood, graveyard, apple orchard or motorway air, bods direct you to.

If within 30 klicks of Calais, do take a bit of care. Whilst it’s easy to see monsters behind every hedge and wall, the area is not entirely devoid of migrants. The French police have closed a couple of the motorway airs for exactly that

I’d guess that you’ll be looking for something, within the boundaries of this segment of the circle:



I’d avoid the beaches as you are in prime migrant real estate.

There are though plenty of fields and small woods, for you to pitch-up in.
