Sondersystem exhausts?

Right I'm in this Remus/sondersystem disaster.

What cans will fit with these panniers other than the crap bmw one.....

Help..

It depends. What cut-out does the pannier have (round or square)?

Round - only suitable for the OE silencer.

Rectangular - after market silencer (even then only the Remus IIRC).

Probably because most people bought the panniers to suit their exhaust, not the other way around.

The special set with the cut out also comes with an exhaust extension that attaches to the frames and standard exhaust to stop you melting your indicator, mounting puck and pannier contents...

Just because someone makes something doesn't mean it can't be modified...................

Didnt say it couldnt be modified was just letting you know it came with an extension and you appeared to be ignorant of the fitment of your particular pannier set, thats my point

Yes. Swap your silencer or swap your n/s pannier for one with the correct cut-out for your preferred silencer.

Less useful: Angle grinder, pop rivets and silicone sealer, rearrange the pannier cut-out to accommodate the silencer.

Fit a stubby, there's a thread on here about it
Remove the internals from the bmw can, there used to be thread on here about it
Fit a lowering kit so the silencer runs under the pannier TT used to do em, as did motorworks or make one

By the way... I haven't exactly got empirical evidence for this but it seems to me that as many people get rid of their Remus systems as hang on to them. Mine was fitted to the bike when I bought it - it took me 40 miles to decide to ditch it in favour of the OE system. They are loud and for what is essentially a touring bike - a total pain in the ass. Hope that helps.

I do agree 'sometimes'.
I had this discussion with my girlfriend and she thinks with our starcom its sensible to keep OE. But. I'm only 20 and maybe a bit of and a yob and love loud bikes!
Call me silly/poncy or whatever but its each to their own
With my last Gs I ran a techlusion and open pipes just to be noisy and that it was .....

Have you got a y piece fitted on your bike or is the cat still there? if you want your bike louder i think you'll be dissapointed by changing the can with a cat fitted, a stubby just bolted to the cat gives a louder noise but not that much and the cat is actually stamped with a bs number meaning it's technically legal to run that as the silencer on it's own. That way you dont butcher the bm can and can re-sell it at some point and you have no probs with the pannier.

This has the Y peice fitted. I keep reading all sorts of opinions on previous threads and people seem to like my current set up more than anything (Ypiece and OE silencer) I just want more noise.

I do have the option of full remus or OE as I've got all the bits but obvously need a round silencer......

I don't wanna stick the cat back really so it's got to have some kinda silencer and an extender......

I plan on possibly fitting some of lennies rocket sprockets sometime soon then going up to hilltop? or hillside bikes? to get it re-mapped
