some programs may not work, but Vista has a "run in compatability mode" feature on the right mouse click that may get the awkward ones working...

easiest thing to do is just google your main programs to make sure they work under vista.

your saved data on the XP computer will transfer onto the Vista machine no problem.

IMHO though, Windows 7 knocks the spots off Vista, so change to that as soon as you can.

Vista vs. Win7 is a bit like Win95 vs. XP - many issues got sorted in the later version.

:)

Only experience of a Vaio a few years ago is that the power socket was physically weak and did not like repeated insertion and removal of the plug. The socket was attached to the motherboard (or some other expensive innards) which was a PIA and expensive. Might have been fixed by now.:nenau

to correct my description it is less than a year old so that problem should be sorted

if it's less than a year old, you might still be eligible under the sony upgrade scheme for Win7

?????
