Got a few days in Cape Town. Be rude not to rent a nice bike .
Unfortunately I couldn’t find one so settled on an obscure model called a 1250 GSA Tripple Blick. Should blend in with the locals at least .
Even fitted with the amazing Gear Shift Assist Prod !
Picked the bike up from Don at Adventure Bike Rentals

He provided me with a great route via Dolphin Bay to Bainskloof Pass then Du Toitskloof Pass.

About 200 mile round trip

First stop Dolphin Bay with Table Mountain in background.

Didn’t see any to see it they’d changed their spots

Time for lunch

IMG_4057.jpeg

Then over Du Toitskloof Pass

IMG_4060.jpeg

Then down to Fisk Hoek

Then back to Cape Town.

The GSA ?

First impressions-comfy seat , nice engine .

After 100 miles -seat fucking dreadful. Too squidgy making my arse very sore. Had to keep standing up to relive pain.
Suspension too firm in Dynamic Pro. Not much better in Road.
GSAP pretty crap compared to virtually every other bike I’ve ridden with a quick shifter.
Handled lovely though as all GS/GSAs do.

Would need a seat change and suspension sorting to do big miles on .

Great day out but would rather been on a better bike. Bit surprised ….

New Shark OXO was fabulous.

Think my unworn Neotec 3 might be surplus to requirements .

Everyone's arse is different, never had a problem on any of my 6 GS's from my 2005 1200GS to my latest 1250GS.

You do make the best use of your "down time", don't you (y)

Me, jealous! Never :D

Ace pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to add Africa, having ridden in North America, South America, Asia and Australia and obviously Europe

Lunch looked very good, so is the scenery. Shame about the choice of bike though.

I used to live in Stellenbosch. The road through the mountains outside Franschhoek is amazing………and looks like you went that way. The Garden Route is still one of my favourite roads worldwide.
The GSA standard seat is comical and you can set your watch to the pain in the ass after 100 miles. Pain disappears soon as you get off………..and returns immediately upon your return. Sargent completely fixes 👍
I personally think a Harley would’ve been a better rental choice though! Lol
GSA would’ve been my 2nd choice.

Think a tribe of baboons are equally dangerous and surprised you didn’t see any.
Especially the ones from the townships with 9mm Glocks!! lol

First thing I changed on my Hexhead and 1250 GSA’s was a seat swap to Sargent.

Why can’t BMW seem to get the seat right on anything they make?

They did on my bikes - but it's impossible to make a seat that everyone is happy with because we all have slightly different anatomys.

Agree with the seat comment.
When i first got my 1200 GS i found the seat horrid, always had a sore arse.
riding alone wasnt too bad as i could stand on slow roads while some blood flowed again.

On a 7 days trip around Scotland with a pillion i wasnt able to stand up so when it got unbearable i had to stop, by the last day i had piles!
not funny... unless its someone else.

Since then i seems to have got used to it more and my arse lasts longer before aching.

Great photos enjoyed those 👍

That Lookout Cafe is a direct hit for me, fabulous I love places like that.

Have you yet thought that the sea looks nice, so why not jump in for a quick dip? 🥶
