Hey folks a heads up for anybody looking for replacement stick coils. I found my bike was running and ticking over a tad rough especially during wet weather. I checked the coils using Steptoe's tried and trusted method and found that one of the lower ones was completely banjoed. The others were OK but were showing signs of severe wear and tear so I decided to replace all 4 and ordered from Trodo.com ,the cost individually were around 70 to 80 euros a piece so the total cost was was 333 euros Inc delivery. The ordering and tracking process was flawless and they arrived 3 days early.
Hopefully this is of help to someone

Just thinking about plugs and coils for my 2012 GSA. Anyone know of a decent supplier of both?

Could anyone put the link up to Steptoe’s testing method please. Mines now done close to 87,000 miles and goes onto one cylinder occasionally and I’m wondering if one of the coils could be faulty.

sparkplugs.co.uk is the place to go.

Though I've just had a look and now they're only selling the Beru version...not the Champion branded versions (which are in fact Beru items with a Champion sticker on top).

So...not the massive saving as before, but still way cheaper than OEM prices!

Mistercat, looks like you got a good deal

Hi Dub 24,
How did you find the parts on Trodo.com?
Is there a motorcycle parts section? I looked under BMW but it only gave a list of cars in drop down menu.
I tried a selection of part numbers but drew a blank also.
Any advice much appreciated.

TK.

Hey TK Just input the relevant part numbers and you should be good to go ZS383,ZS384,ZS385. Any issues PM me

I am thinking about checking my coils, my bike idles a bit rough when cold and every now and then as it idles after cold startup I get a little knock sound and shunt to the left as if its missing. One of my coils was a bit rusty and delaminated but I can’t remember which one. The bike runs fine once its warmed up.

Follow Steptoes advice in post 5 ,that'll tell you what's happening

No symptoms present with mine, more preventative maintenance.

Just for info and easier for EU members I have been using auto-doc.ie recently for best prices on car stuff, only problem is delivery costs €30 unless order exceeds €140 (not hard to get to  ) Takes a week for delivery.

Using the BERU ZS385 main coil for example price is €52 each.

Thanks for posting….really useful thread.

MODs can I suggest this is made a sticky under the “other useful links” bit in the “how to” sticky.
