Have changed the original thread as the other string was getting too long. Next meet up is Brick Lane 30th May 1800, Standard Balti House for some good traditional British fare.... No need to reserve unless its over 30....

I remember the old London meet ups at the Lahore Kebab house. I’ll do my best to get to this one, Thursdays are usually my gig nights, fit three in on a Thursday, I think i’ll still have time to fit two in after the curry

At an age where it’s becoming difficult to remember what one had for breakfast, Nadeem’s Lahore evenings do indeed stick in the mind. Happy days.

PS By chance, I bumped into Nadeem as few years ago on the Chunnel. He was taking a bunch of Harley riders to Le Touquet for a coffee or something like that. I’ve not seen him since.

I think that was the last time I went there. The place had been tarted up beyond belief.

If it’s more convenient we can do the Wednesday 29th May as well. Normally the Wednesday works better for many. I’ll wait to hear and as there is no reservation we can go with the majority vote.

The Lahore kebab house used to be quite an institution so I have been told. On the Commercial Road right?
There is still the Lahore One there. Went there once. Real spit and sawdust place. Grumpy waiters but excellent fare. I heard the old Kebab house got so popular but because of it being a bit simple the owners decided to take the concept up market and opened Tyanbs just off Myrtle Road. Tyabbs has become a bit of an East End institution with queuing the norm because it was so good. Basically a posh version of the Kebab house and run by the same owners. Dry place of course as the fare is Pakistani but next door the usual off license owned by a relative accommodating the bring your own booze concept.

Maybe I have it all wrong and will be corrected by one of the real London boys on here..

Seems I got it a bit wrong. The Lahore Kebab House IS still there as is the Lahore One. Tyabbs is at the opposite end of Myrdle road to where the Lahore Kebab House is on Commercial Road.

I think we have 6 so far. Wapping, Grantmac, ChasMil, Monsieur, EV & Steptoe for next Thursday evening. Anyone else? I’ll be dropping in earlier next week so I can give them the heads up we are coming and get our 20% discount

Should you be able to make the Wednesday next week instead can ask to others if we can swap. For me no issue.....one day earlier, one day later, curry night is curry night....what do the rest think?

I have a job coming in on weds 29th that has to be finished the same day as he’s coming from Brighton (he’s a UKGSer) and obviously wants to get back home that night., I wouldn’t want everyone to rearrange their schedules and then I get problems going the job and can’t make the curry or be late as I’ll still be working
