Got a letter this morning they have been taken over by a Alaric Errington and Steve Verral and they are now called South London Motorrad, they have retained the existing staff and tel no 01883 349433 and for the short term they will remain at Coulsdon rd Caterham (their words), i wish them good luck and i guess we will see what the future brings.

Hi g.s.john. thanks for your comments.

As you rightly point out, we purchased South London Motorcycles on the 5th July, and re-named it South London Motorrad. We are doing our best to get through all the inevitable “teething” problems I think is the term, but the reality with the likes of BT was more like “tooth extraction without pain-relief” problems, so apologies to anyone who found our phones and computers not working, which effected just about every part of our business.

As you point out however, “the proof of the pudding is in the eating”, but we are focussing all our efforts on making our service the best, extending our range of products (bikes and BMW & non BMW accessories & clothing) as well as just doing everything we do better for the benefit of our customers (who pay the bills !).

We will of course be judged on our performance, and I for one will stand up to be counted in this regard. We do have a great team here, the best i think.

I hope we will see you here soon. Regards Alaric.

Hi Alaric

I know that it's early days yet but if this is an example of things to come you'll be on the right track!...

I recently took my 1200GS in to SLBMW for it's 12K service where your guys found that one of the seals on the gearbox had gone. One of your guys explained that the gearbox oil could contaminate the clutch (not good!) and bring me to a shuddering stop (even worse)! He also explained that fixing it is not cheap!! However, because my bike is young and has a good service record he approached BMW and obtained something called a 'good will gesture' from them not without a little pressure. :clap This brought the cost to me down to an affordable level! :bow The bike was booked in and the work carried out last week.

I must say that I was not only grateful, as the original cost would have been difficult for me to meet, but impressed by your guy's helpful, none condescending attitude. He recognised that such a young bike shouldn’t develop this fault and showed a caring attitude and good after sales service too by using his initiative to contact BMW. I'm also grateful for this opportunity of letting you and others know about it.

Congratulations. :thumb2 If this is what you mean by “doing everything we do better for the benefit of our customers” then you’re on the right path! :clap

Thanks Haggisblower. We all appreciate your comments and delighted we have sorted it out for you.

I have sent you a PM.

regards

Alaric

Is Simon Cope still working there? I believe he moved there when Prestige in Bexley closed. He flogged me my current 1200 in 2005...

Wish I had....

know of the name change ....went to South London Motorcycles a couple of weeks ago, to look at a 1150GS, and thought...funny always thought they were a BMW dealer....:blast

I bought my 1200GSA new from South London at the end of June and have it booked in for its 6K service in a few weeks time. Shame you charge for loan bikes (£15 to cover insurance) as with every other bike dealer I have used over the years (i.e Dobles) I didn't have to pay a penny!

Hi Igsy. Yes we charge this to customers using loan bikes. We have to cover loan bikes used by customers on a separately policy. As far as I am aware this is pretty common across the board.

loan bikes

I had a loan bike from North Oxford last month for 2 days whilst mine was being serviced and it was free:nenau

Dobles have charged for the last couple of loan bikes I have used and for the same reason as SLM.

Prestige

Prestige, now theres a fine motorcycle dealer, as long as you dont mind being stitched up.
glad they closed, the md was an :peach:

No Paul that's not correct, Stewart was nowhere near as good looking as your picture!.

I heard he has now gone?

Had my service cancelled the other week too after it had been booked in for at least 6 weeks, an audit or something was being undertaken. Glad I wasn't off on a long trip somewhere as they were unable to book it in for at least another week!

Igsy

I am sorry we had to cancel your service. Unfortunately when we do a stock-take, it takes 3 full days with all staff, including the technicians. It’s a heck of a job, but we have to do it, and pick a date. Sorry for any inconvenience this caused you. I hope we have you re-scheduled, in which case bang on my door and demand a coffee, and I will make it for you myself !! Alaric

It's a deal, but remember the bacon rolls are only available on Saturday’s ! "SLM Bacon Credit" agreed for Igsy !!!:bounce1
