Southern Ireland trip

Pembroke to Rosslare and return.
Have not been for a few years and hope to go for a week at the end of May. South coast hugging coastline to Doolin and then continue if time to Clifden before return to Rosslare. Been lots of times so know many of the sights but wondered if anyone has any 'gems' of roads or areas to explore en route.

Rough plan is hug coast and take in Gap of Dunloe, Adrigole and over the pass from there but forget name. Sheeps Head, Mizen, Tarbert Ferrry on way to Dolin, around Burren, and then out along coast road to Clifden area.

Others in group have cried off so going it alone.

Will do Beara? And ring of Kerry etc.

Any further suggestions?

That could be a start. A group of us older site members used to do this every year but all others seem to have lost the wanderlust. Will stay in touch.

There's a fine café at the end of Sheep Head worth calling in at. The Beara is also a must do as is the Healy Pass.

I'll move this thread to the Ireland section where you should get more recommendations.

If you are in the Sunny South east, take a spin to the V near Lismore great scenery and if you like the sea, visit Dunmore East and Ardmore. In Cork visit the English market. If money no object stay in Kinsale, if not Dunmore East.(let me know if you are going to be in Dunmore and might be possible to meet for a pint). Dungarvin has great pubs and nightlife (pubs).
Look up the Irish Photo Rally for unusual places to see, just don't believe the timings on your GPS add an hour.

Make sure you go right to the end of Sheeps head and the Beara, if you do a right at Adrigole and go over the Healey pass you will miss some fantastic scenary, I would recommend you to do a figure of eight round the Beara that way you get to do the Healey pass twice.
Glengariff to Adrigole, over pass to Lauragh, left to Ardgroom, take the old ring of Beara to Eyeries, onto Allihies, (tea here with me....) then on to Garnish to see the cable car, back to Castletown bere on to Adrigole left over Healey pass and on into Kenmare.

Another thing, the ends of all the Peninsulas are the most beatifull and the villages on the ends can be more entertaining than places like Kilarney. Up to You

Rosslare to Ballyhack ferry across to Passage east.
Stick to the Copper coast towards Dungarvan.
Head for Lismore & over the Vee to Clougheen.
Back towards Cork by the back roads - Mallow to Blarney perhaps.
West of Cork city & then the coast to Mizen head.
Next to Sheep's head peninsula & Beara as advised above.
On to Kenmare & west to Blackwater bridge & then North to Ballaghabema gap.
This misses Killarney & the Gap of Dunloe - an alternate is Molls gap, Black Valley & Gap of Dunloe but Ballaghabema is my slight preference.
The Dingle peninsula & Slea Head lap & back out over Conor pass.
Tarbert ferry & up Clare coast; round Black Head into Galway.
Comnnemara by any route is magic - how long have you got?
Now Leenaun via Doolough to Louisburg & into Westport.
Diagonally back across by Birr, Kinnity, Mountrath, Kilkenny.
This is over 900 miles & 5 days is rushing it a little.
Do Enjoy - it will look something like this.

Agreed except to turn right again in Leenaun misses most of Connemara.
This is less than 200 mile but it is more than a day's ride if you wish to savour it. You or I who better know the territory might not be investing as much in soaking up the vistas?
