Spain->France (Pyranees)->Spain->Portugal September 05th to 16th, 2010

jim, i dont want to alarm you matey but get to the docs as soon as you get back, even if you feel better, when i came back a few years ago i was ropey as hell, doc sent samples off and the next thing i knew was the tropical medicine place at liverpool wanted to know where i had been, what i had ate etc.
to cut a long story short i now have some bug in me for the rest of my life, not a problem untill you get a dose of the craps then it raises its ugly head and makes things doubly bad.

Anyhow probley nothing as bad but have a check up mate.

MADRID !!!! oh what a nice place and yes your right, no one sleeps

Good advice mate, you never know.

Still miles from being right. I'm in at the doctors at 16:00 TODAY!

Back home late last night. What a trip!! Looking at the maps last night plotting where I got to and bloody hell, I'm proper made up :thumb2

GSA will be getting a good clean later on. WHAT A BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot fault the thing, totally reliable and an absolute dream to ride. Even the scorching hot ride from Tanger to Fes in 110 degrees was bliss.

F*ck it, I'm off for a ride out :)

See you soon.

Jim you are the craziest small big guy I know, fair play son, that was one he'll of a trip to attempt partially solo,

Well done son

you have balls of steel !

Doc!!! Thanks mate! Hows it going?!?!?

We'll all have to have a rideout soon before the weather really does get too s**tty. Can tell you some of the stories from the trip. Had some good laughs and some lows as well. Still, all part of the adventure.

Will get some more photos upped.

:thumb2

More piccys...

Checked the mileage I did for the trip and its just short of 4200 at 4173.

A few more pics for y'all :thumb2

Spain - I'll get my knee down yet! :D Taking a right hander in a national park near Cazorla IIRC.

Morocco - I got in the s**t in Rabat by arriving there too late in the dark and getting completely lost on a new sprawling housing development area in the Temara area. I'd ridden for just under 8 hours and was totally knackered. If it wasn't for a fellow German over-lander on a KTM called Joerg who just happened to be in the reception of the Golden Tulip hotel there, I would have had nowhere to stay and God forbid, had to try my luck in Casablanca  I had been allowed to put my GSA in the underground car park of the golden Tulip by the car park attendant then headed up to reception. I remember sweating buckets getting all my gear up there. Just my luck, the Golden Tulip was completely full.. Having overheard my plight, Joerg offered me a room at a villa his company has there on the outskirts of Rabat. I then carted all my gear back down to the underground car park and reloaded the GSA. One scary ride through the streets of Rabat avoiding taxis and various other nucking futters to the villa and I had a room for the night. It was in that villa I had to deal with the LARGEST cockroach I have ever seen. The b**tard had size 11 Dr. Martens on FFS  "Outdoors for them, indoors for me" is my view on the insect world personally. I dealt with the beast and got some kip ready for pushing to Khemisset and Meknes the next day. The photo is of my GSA and Joergs KTM securely parked at the side of the villa.

Riad Dar Charifa in Fes, where I stayed for a night. A lovely place to stay and run by a great Moroccan woman who can't do enough for you. Website: http://www.riaddarchrifa.com

About 50 meters away is a decent sized locked garage where you can leave your bike in the safe hands of the owner who will keep an eye on it for you for just a few Dirhams.

Some images from Fez including a great view from the tannery balcony - I remember it was a blisteringly hot day and yet the guys that work down there still give it their all. Tough people.

..and some more!

Spain - the top of Pico Veleta - Bagster - successful at making luggage for the animal and human alike :) This little fella belonged to a Spanish biker couple who we met at the top of Pico Veleta, Sierra Nevada - the dog was quite happy riding the roads of Spain with its owners in the tank bag, it even had a window to look through :clap

Spain - MikeTR tanks round a bend in one of Spain's many fantastic national parks. God I love that 650 Dakar of his :green gri

Spain - Veleta - Car manufacturers testing their latest designs at altitude at the top of Veleta. Note the camouflage around the vehicle to attempt to conceal it - the driver spotted me taking this shot and sped away to try to stop me getting the shot.

Gibraltar - "Ah, so North Africa is that way" :)

A few more..

Morocco - I ended up in a bar in Tangier and met with Lazywall via a mate of mine (Isaam), these guys are a Tanger based modern rock band. The band gets its name from a wall that exists along the coast of Tangier overlooking the Med across to the coast of Spain and mainland Europe. Moroccans sit on the wall and smoke, drink and dream of escaping to Europe to make their fortunes. The wall is known by locals as "sour al maagazine" - or, "the lazy wall".

I was given a copy of their "Primal Tapes" CD before I left Tangier - a really great bunch of guys who like to drink and can really play.

Gibraltar - Another one where I am looking across the Straits of Gibraltar dying to get cracking and get to North Africa. Soon..!

Ferry from Algeceiras to Ceuta - I had to make 2 attempts to get to North Africa. The first attempt, with FRS, failed miserably. We got so close to the African coast you could almost reach out and touch it, but then, just my luck, the Fast Jet failed and they announced in Arabic and Spanish we were turning back. Luckily, a really good bloke I got chatting with spoke great English and translated for me. One of the engines of the FRS craft had failed and that was it - it was turning back. I remember there were kids throwing up as it was pretty rough at times and there were what appeared to be Moroccan students holding coursework folders in their hands in floods of tears. Obviously HAD to get to Morocco that day for a specific time. It was then I thought "ah well, could be worse, at least I wont be getting a fail for handing in course work late".

I re-attempted the crossing later that day, but used an alternate line, Ballearia, and they got me across, all be it later than I had planned. The photo above is of my bike on the fated crossing lashed down in the bottom of the FastJet. The ball ache is undoing it all just to have to redo it all yet again later. Ah well..

Spain - Valencia - a lovely city, didn't spend too long here in all honesty, but it was amazing weather and the City of Arts and Science building is just stunning. Shortly before stopping here, a biker had been knocked off his bike in the main route into the city and it was being loaded onto a truck. A sharp reminder if there ever was...

This is Martha (hope I got the spelling right!), a sales woman from Madrid. I look like I'm whincing cos' she's actually got her thumb up my arse.

I honestly cannot remember the name of the place this was took, but she was a great laugh - even though we couldn't communicate properly as her English was bad and my Spanish even worse.
