Planning a trip through Spain in April. Riding through France to Pau, on to Toledo and the Seville. Any recommendations for places to stay in Seville, and routes / roads back? Thinking of going upto Salamanca along the top into Pyrenees. Looking to do decent daily mileage (300's) but not on motorway or similar. Accommodation not looking for expensive but interesting is always good....

thanks

Hey Rich...

See reply number 5 in this thread for some info

Weather should be warm enough too at that time to enjoy a decent ride. If you`re not looking to be on autoroutes you`ll need to arrive at Pau along the Bordeaux N 134 road. This is a free flowing A road and you can still make good time, albeit at normal speeds...nice towns to ride through en route....then skip on over into Spain as mentioned in the thread. Other than that you can`t really go wrong..

I`m 25 mins south of Pau..

:D

I don't disagree with heading down to Bordeaux then Pau, But wanted to ask if you want to take in any of France on the way down or even on route back up? Often the Central Massif of France is overlooked but there are some great roads on the way down maybe take in the Millau Viaduct via the Volcanic region of Puy Mary and Aurillac entering Spain via Carcassonne through Andorra there is a site which is starting to provide reccommended routes through the Pyrenees and Spain which might be worth a once over Moto europe routes Enjoy the planning ;)

A good resource for accommodation in Europe has to be www.bike-stay.net

Thanks both good steer. The Massive Central is overlooked but not by me and will be on the return leg. We are planning to come back that way having had a few days in the pyrenees. Great roads and quirky French guest house in Argeles Gazost with secure garage parking close by www.hotel-beausite-argeles.com If you are near try it out and route from there to Col De Spandelles, great fun.

Also been recomended a route through a gorge just North of Zaragosa if heading toward Pau, Any ideas on this one?

Thanks for the Spanish routes and advice.

Hey Rich...this is indeed a great wee ride out route, ideal for any Sunday morning. To come away from Col du Spandelles,en route to Pau you have to ride past my house!....We do the odd downhill mountain bike ride out down here and we also have an 11km downhill trail over at Argeles Gazost. Anyway, for Pau ride on to Nay Baudriex(great camping here)and Pau.

Anyway...there`s now an eating place/bar next door to me which, unusually stays open from about 0800-2100 all week. Local moto clubs use it on Sunday ride outs .
There`s also a fuel sation close by which stays open 0700-1900 all week too...not too easy to find in these parts, and good to know about for a Sunday.

If you ride by stop for a beer...look for Asson 64800 and just ask for the Irishman who drives an old Land Rover!!

As for the Zaragoza question I`m unaware of a gorge there.....maybe someone else can chime in....

:D
