Hoping someone can guide me?

I was about to sell my Nav6 but noticed one of the screws securing the battery cover is missing.
I've tried Goggling but cannot seem to find any?

Any help appreciated (y)

Steve

Have you tried calling Garmin, to ask if they might have any? They will be awash with old shonky Nav VI’s, I guess.

Your local BMW dealer might well have a returned shonky Nav VI or two, too. They might be persuaded to take a screw or two out, perhaps?

Maybe the people who repair GPS devices might be able to help you and / or carry spare screws? https://www.ukgser.com/community/threads/repair-look-here-first-repair.261584/

Have a look on eBay to see if anyone is selling old Navigator devices as spares? The screws might well be the same size across several models. This bloke is selling a screen, maybe he has a screw or two hanging around? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364279883472

Advertise it as having a screw missing and discount the price accordingly, perhaps? People love a bargain.

Stick a bit of gaffer tape over the battery cover, Adventure bike rider style.

Don’t lose the screw next time.

Thanks for the help eveyone, I think I'll go down the cheap and cheerful route with a bit of gaffa tape for that rugged look😀

For anyone stubbling across this thread in the future who have lost both screws here's a picture of my remaining one.
Quite usual, like Bigcats,(brilliant manual by tge way👍) I thought it would be a self tapper but they have a smooth shank leading to a machined threaded end. Although a self tapper would probably do it lol.

Thanks again.

That’s the spirit.

Anything in something like this to suit you, even if they lack the shank? The heads though might be too large, if the Garmin screw needs to be recessed? But, thst might not be important.

I still think a call to Garmin or a repair shop might help you out. I have got assorted bits from Garmin UK, often for free.

Or Google: smooth shank screws and surf about.

Thanks Wapping, one of those has got to fit with a dab of black paint👍 and the misses has an Amozon Prime account.😀

Update re screw, unfortunately the largest on in the pack was slightly to small but I'm sure they will come in handy.

So I contacted Garmin as suggested, was on hold for 20 minutes BUT when I did get through they were extremely helpful and sent the complete battery door, with screws and gasket FOC including postage!

Can't as for better than that.

Thanks for everyone's input.👍

Good news. I have always found their “We will see if we can find you the piece you want” department, very helpful.
