Hi All,
Has anyone had a spark plug cap melt on a 1150 twin spark? On the way to work, I noticed smoke pouring from the left cylinder. Turned out the plug cap had gone into complete meltdown. The top is split and looks like it has been arcing on the cylinder head cover. I have managed to get the bike to work, and hopefuly have it changed under warranty.

Cheers,

Paul

It's very common for the twin spark cap to give trouble, at any mileage.

They break down causing bad running, or just melt, like in your case.

If not under warranty, £60ish a cap - due to it having an inbuilt coil

oh what fun

Cheers Steptoe, I did notice the engine has been hesitating for a couple of days, so it did warn me.

So that's where the coil is, no wonder I couldn't find it, cheers matey.
