Hello all,
Don't want to sound like an idiot but can I just get confirmation on which spark plugs my 2011 twin cam GSA takes. Is it MAR8B-JDS x4. And for my FD is it Castrol Syntrax 75-90 Fully Synthetic.
Thank in advance.

BMW recommend Castrol Syntrax 75-90 for final drive and I use it in the gearbox as well (which is correct according to the Haynes manual for the TC), spark plugs are indeed MAR8B-JDS x4.
Some also use Syntrax 75w 140 in both final drive and gearbox, and the guy across the road from me uses Castrol EPX 80w90 in both.

Thanks for that. Opie Oils do both plugs and oil so I will order from them.
There seems to be a few variations of the Syntrax 75 90 but I'll opt for the fully synthetic version methinks.
Plugs arn't too old but had it remapped at Hilltop and Geoff recommends changing them soon after.
cheers
Kev

Castrol Syntrax longlife 75W-90 API GL5 formerly known as Castrol SAF-XO 75W-90

Here is a PDF of the parkplugs used on BMW motorcycles. Refer to pg8 for the hexhead. Something to read with a bit of info if interested.

For the twin cam the following is recommended:
NGK MAR8B-JDS

Can be replaced by the following:
CR8E, CR9E
CR8EB, CR9EB
CR8EK, CR9EK
CR8EKB, CR9EKB

NGK (platinum / iridium):
CR8EVX, CR9EVX
CR8EIX, CR9EIX

Denso (iridium):
IU24, IU27

For syringes I just bought 5 x 60ml types off Ebay - couple of quid if that. I use these for brake fluid changes as well, using them for suction. You will need to fill up the FD really slowly otherwise you'll end up with oil down your flange!!

Kev how's the bike since you've been to hilltop?
I'm going down next Thursday to get hilltoped and just wondered if you noticed a difference?

IMHO if you don't notice a big difference you need to lay off the anaesthetics. As said many times here a Hilltop remap makes a big difference, and my experience is that a decat on top of a remap makes as much difference again.

Hi Cammy,
Made a big difference to the bike. Up from 83bhp to 102bhp and torque up from 69 to over 80 if I can recall.
Biggest difference is the way that it rides. Wants to pull right up to the red and is smoother, especially at lower speeds with none of the snatchy on off throttle stuff as it used to. Just rides like it should really.
Money well spent.
