e-mailed SPC :rocketwho , as I bought the bike from them, to enquire what was happening as I have had no notification about this.

"E-mail deleted without being read", when I opened my e-mail box tonight.

Last time I bother with them. :nono

Well, I phoned and talked to them on the same problem and also a warrenty claim on wifes GS.

They turned up in a van and took the bikes away with a phone call a few hours later saying no charge for 1st service ( well knew that, but nice to be reminded ) and they are waiting for a fuel sensor for wifes bike, my bike had 3 call backs all sorted with a small charge for brake oil ( only ).

It will be returned tomorrow.

So may be you shouldn`t email, ring and talk.

I would never trust text or email, as you probably delete numurous emails dayliy, as I do.

I have spoken to the young guy at the service desk.

He just criticised MCN,inferring that it was scare mongering, struck me as a patronising little :tosser and said that if my bike needs the recall BMW would let me know.

So I thought I'd see if I got a more proactive response by using e-mail.

May be honesty is not the best policy, and never heard anybody ever but criticise MCN.

Anyway, I asked them about my brake recall after a letter from BMW, and the told me of two other recalls.

sorry to read your problems, and I`m sure thier managment will think the same.

Although I bought my bike from them, I did not know about the recall on the fuel line coupling, until CW :thumb serviced the bike.

After the service by CW, the next day the bike took several long attempts to start. Phoned them up, they said get BMW breakdown to bring it to us. I explained I bought the bike from SPC & apparently this meant that there was no BMW cover. :rocketwho CW promptly organised this for me. :thumb

CW 10 SPC Damn sight less.

And therefore if its an import, implied by the lack of breakdown cover, BMW GB wouldn't be writing to you about current or future recalls, as its not one of theirs so to speak.

Could some one tell me what the brake recall is all about, which models etc... I have heard nothing from BMW nor CW, so I presume that it doesn't effect me, but I would like to no for sure

Schnell Panzer, even if the bike is an import, it was imported by SPC themselves, so one would hope it would be on a log of owners at BM HQ.

Even if this was not the case, then surely it is the responsibility of SPC to contact their customers?

Anyway, I sent another e-mail to SPC asking why they list an e-mail address on their site if any incoming messages are deleted.

I didn't expect to get a reply. But this morning at work, I received a curteous phone call from SPC stating that there were problems with their e-mail system. More pointedly, when would I like to have my bike looked at :clap at a time convenient to myself :bounce1

I am big enough to apologise when I am wrong, especially when SPC cannot defend themselves.

Sorry SPC!

In my defence M'lud, I must admit to being a man of little patience.

Checked this out with my pal / supplier, imported bikes never appear on BMW GB's vehicle database, but when they notify dealers of any recall, software upgrade etc etc they provide a full list of effected bikes by Frame Number, so I guess it would be the importing/selling dealers job to ensure their customers receive the news.

If it's a safety recall, ie front wheel could fall off or gearbox could seize, then the DVLA will provide the list of all bikes registered in the UK, official or import and the details of the current owners for bikes that fall within the range of frame number BMW give the DVLA!

I hope that helps and you get your bike sorted soon enough. :thumb

Mine is....

Another phone call and a bit of clarity for you all, good job he's an old buddy! Anyway, BMW Assist can be provided either as "stand alone" or with a BMW Used Waranty. The recovery membership is a bit like joining the RAC/AA, so an imported bike could be on their computer system, operated by Mondial (?) whoever they are.

By the way, I've had an import, there's nothing wrong with them, but do be aware you're slightly out of the loop unless the dealer has the bestest admin team, mostly they don't and that's one reason I wouldn't get another one, at least not after all the "updates" with the R1200GS.
