SPC. crap! o yes!!

I've been to SPC a few times, last time at the weekend for the 10k service. Hired an RT (horrible, couldn't get my foot under the gear change ...) for the day.

No complaints whatsoever. Friendly and seemed quite efficient. And (from past experience in Europe) I have a bias against mixed car/bike dealers.

Gave me some free advice abut registering my European bike here which was very useful and talked themselves out of the thick end of 500 quid of parts I thought I had to order.

Plus it's a nice run down from Woking and decent coffee and doughnuts.

But experiences will often differ wildy.

Cheers

Andy

My Story.......

Bought a used R1150GS from them in Jan, 3 years old for £6250, with a service + MoT, 1 year warranty etc.
24000 service done by them in Sep for £215, included a loan bike but not oil + filter change or plugs, do those myself. They were happy to stamp up the service history. At the service they agreed I had a duff front shock, and changed it no quibble. Just had the MoT done for £15 whilst sat there with coffee, reading papers. Internet available if required.

I don't think that is too bad at all..........

On each occassion when I have had trouble with the GS1150, SPC have dealt with it promptly. Last week they replaced the gear indicator part located somewhere near the gearbox. I phoned today as I thought something was loose and rattling, asked me to come in the same day. Sorted. One of the mechanics was helpful when I asked about useful as opposed to tarty accessories. So although in my instance the bikes reputation is sullied, SPC have performed well.

Since getting the bike, I have had 2 servo pumps, new master cylinder and the gear indicator widget. This is since late August 2004, and 4,200 miles.

Valkyrie F6C

Sorry to be thick but who are SPC?

I ask because I chopped a black Valkyrie with hard Corbin panniers in at Woolaston BMW when I got my R1200GS a few months ago. I would be interested to know what they sold it for.

I rode it for 7 years and despite some of the other comments I thought it was great bike for a big, heavy Cruiser, much better handling than some American V twins I could mention.

I don't know about SPC, but as some people have mentioned, send written complaints to the Top.

I had problems with Hartwell Vauxhall (no not for the GS), so much that I wrote a letter to the head of that franchise and a letter to Hartwell UK, within 30 Minutes of handing in the letters and started to get phone calls from both about what they could do. It solved that issue (still a bunch of Anchors).

One thing i have learnt in the past when dealing with any Shop, if you don't get the service you feel you should... complain, and don't be affraid to go straight to the top (keep copies of your letters though), the UK is renouwned for not complaining, which is why this sort of thing continues to happen.

The problem is these people we keep doing what they are doing, and surviving whilst hey are still getting their sales figures

DidcotGSer...... Hi, think I may have seen you around, I'm on Ladygrove, maybe we can meet up sometime.

F6C

I agree with Shit stirrer.

Most of you guys do not know your arse from your elbow, or good service vs bad.

SPC, like any dealer is there to provide a service, but they also need to make a profit ( a swear word to most of you tight arse gits)

To ere is human, or are you immortal souls not human.

As a professional sales person, I buy from from a person/company.

As a customer, you need to show respect for knowledge and perserverance to BWM dealers who are being pushed to their limits during the chalenging times experienced by their principal BWM supplier( who have bags of bucks)

Merry X-mas and a happy BWM new year

headache

think he did maverick, i too had a look at it`s profile after the close thread post. he doesnt need to come back to view, as he is bored with the post.. but i bet he does...

I too read his profile & making an educated guess i think he probably does work for SPC.The travelling salesman bit made me smile as its well known that sales staff in the southern part of the country do move about a bit.
Nick i'm sorry you had a bad experience in trying to buy a bike from these people but you have obviously voted with your feet & your wallet, fair play to you. but i still stand by my previous comments in having a one to one discussion with which ever dealer has upset the relevant person at the time. We're all adults and should be capable of conducting a reasoned argument should we so wish, rather than resorting to the some what childish behaviour some people exhibit on this site.
Dealers need customers likewise we need dealers at some point in our ownership of these bikes.Everybody having a pop at SPC doesn't necessarily sort this problem out more like makes it worse.

fairpoint

fairpoint skywalker, but i dont feel the need to go back and see ronnie, he is well aware of the harm he has done his buisness and perhaps he might just think twice before he does it again. There are four dealers within about an hours ride of my house, i spend BIG money on bikes and bits so i dont need SPC. If any of those pull a stunt like SPC they will get the same treatment.

happy newyear to all my readers...regards nick
