Had a call from BMW yesterday. They are expecting to reopen the SPC site just after Christmas, possible before, but under a new name. :D

They also want to maintain a dealership in Reading.

Cheers

alton or reading, both would be even better.
alton- better roads and a nice ride out.
reading-bit too much traffic in and out of town.
might make christmas for any ex cooper/spc employees who get offered a job.

Drove past the old SPC site yesterday in my works van, I slowed down to see some guys there up ladders clearing the guttering of leaves and debris.

Maybe they are just contracted by the site owners to do routine maintenance, but then again ???

The BMW signage hasn't come down yet, so here's hoping.....

I have heard that the SPC site is reopening as Hampshire Motorrad, possibly for the start of the new year if not before.

This is very good news, there must be a stack of business, me included, waiting to walk through the door. It's been a good day already with an extended ride to work along dry roads and it's Friday - nice.

Better keep an eye on this thread as I've a vested interest in SPC since I'm a Farnham lad.
First and only place I test rode a beemer was at SPC in 2003 a 1150GSA.
I'm hopefully picking up my first Beemer on Saturday, an 1150 GSA, and so will be a visiter to SPC every now and again.
3 years to make mi mind up:D

i have an interest in what goes on there too ;)

fingers crossed and all that :)

Chatted to the landlady in the pub next door (about 3 weeks ago) and she said two chaps are taking it over and should be open early January...:clap

Still looked very empty when I went past on Tuesday - still got the SPC sign up.

... and there is a very nice ford if you turn up the lane just behind the site where I finally discovered my GSPD could go places a Range Rover could/wouldn't :)

If thats....

the one under the bridge only there when you have really heavy rain.....it was only a few inches deep when I went up to have a look at SPC on Wednesday.

I don't think SPC will open in the next couple of months the way it looked. It has not changed in anyway since they closed it, other than the bikes dissapearing.....:(

Well obviously there had been a flash flood when I went through!

and just remember, delusions are the real thing for the people having them - next thing you know people will be saying there is no way my wonderful GSPD can do 130.......
