C'mon bakes - out with it - that's two replies you've deleted in this thread.

What u trying to say ?

Dealers will want to do your warranty work never mind where you bought the bike. BMW pay them to do it, it's BMW who fecked up by making a bike that needed repairs within the warranty period not the dealer :thumb

I always thought he a miserable git anyway. Tried to haggle with him when I bought my bike.

"I told you what the price was", was his stroppy reply. No saving graces at all, always came across as a grump to me.

We can't all be blessed with your happy-go-lucky, sunny disposition :rob :D :D

Once he got to know you he could be very chatty and friendly, but the first few encounters could be a tad fraught.

the opposite of how most salesmen usually are :D

oh dear here I go,

Small bussiness as you may know is just like spinning plates, you have to be a fair boss and also hard, and always to your staff your know as a bastard.

Bob was to his staff very generous and giving, as I`m sure they will tell.

I speak as I find, a nice guy, with stuff going on.

I bussness you need to own the freehold, of which as somebody said was sold sometime back.

You also have to look after your staff which he did well !

As for £1.5 million as somebody said, thats not so difficult if stock is so expensive, but it was a goldmine with lots of diggers.

Always run with one under staff not as Bob did easy 10 over staffed.

Thats where your money goes wages/cars/van etc

People will find themselfs jobs, in the end you have 2 or 3 doing what one should do.

If you say Bob had a Porshe big deal, I could drive a Bently only have to make a phone call, profit is not a dirty word, but don`t spend it on dead wood, and never borrow to support yourself.

I feel only sorry for two sets of people here

1. His loyal STAFF that have worked through all, and just want to go back to work.
2.Anybody that has had a bike in the showroom for sale thats has been sold, and they have not been able to retreve there money.

The rest can all go to another place get a service, drink coffee, and slag off the owner.

So, that's 2 BMW dealers closed, but a new KTM dealer has opened in Bracknell. Hurrah!

:D

That's my understanding, not up in the original town location where Mini have taken up residence, I understood there would be a lapse between Reading shut-down and Kent opening, no dates known though.
They are having a new showroom complex built at the moment in North Farm Industrial Estate and expect to move in January and open the bike section at the same time. The showroom is near the A21. Coming from the A264 and the south, you turn left at the roundabout where the A21 goes single carriageway for a while. Matt Channel (ex SLM, currently Coopers cars) might well be involved on the sales side.

Visited....

SPC this afternoon and I must admit after seeing the place I can't see them opening again, there were no bikes, just bare show room and shelves..and my bike is coming up for a service, so where do I go, NOG, Vines or CW, recommendation required.

If your bike is out of warranty try Barry Barber in Clanfield.

All the bikes were taken out of SPC and loaded into vans yesterday afternoon.

I suspect the website announcement about restoring service shortly is somewhat optimistic.

Hmm… I was contemplating a similar conundrum, the corporate blandness of Vines, or a long trip to CW.

Its a sad sad day, Spc gone, a great place, I think Bob, although a bit stand offish, always had everyones interests at heart, staff and customers, I will miss just going out there for a coffee along one of the nicest roads in England. That's the thing about Spc, you never felt under pressure to buy anything, they knew you would be back. I bought 4 bikes there in 5 years, and got mates to buy 3 more, but sometimes I just fancied a chill and you could do it there, maybe that was wrong of Bob and his crew, maybe they should have jumped on you when you walked through the door, I for one would not have gone back if they did, I wish them all well, I also hope someone re-opens it as a BMW motorcycle dealership. Here's to you all :beerjug:

Bloody shame about SPC very generous in giving raffle prizes and i'll miss
the coffee and cakes :(
Is Charlie homeless
Popped into Cw's this afternoon and speaking to Darren in the service dept
he said they've had a lot of enquires from ex spc customers.
I've had good service from them but the coffee's horrible :thumb

If that is Darren who used to work at SLM then he's a good 'un.

I would recommend North Oxford without question. Great bunch of lads in all departments, free fresh ground coffee, free loan bikes and even though they are a car and bike dealer you never feel second best (unlike Cooper Reading!). :clap

Found second to none service from CW at very competitive prices! never have had a problem with attitudes (unlike SPC). Although SPC mechanics were top quality and always friendly the sales and parts people tend to look down at you (apart from ronnie for obvious reasons) :D :D
