I was supposed to have the 600 mile service done on my R1200S today but had a message on my answerphone last night from SPC saying it had been cancelled. I looked on their website and it said they were closed for stocktaking but I decided to pop along there anyway this morning. I managed to speak to one of their staff and he informed me that they were under new ownership, hence the last minute cancellation.

Was this what the guy at Cooper Reading was refering to as the new shop to the south of the town then?

Obviously not, as the people at SPC actually managed some customer service and provided some advance information to the customer...

I rolled up there at1 4:00 with an IAM associate expecting to do a debrief over coffee ....

Was also told that it will open on Tuesday under a new owner.

No-one is sure that they'll still have a job ...

That might explain the unbeleivably poor service I've received over the last 10 days.... they delivered my new HP2, but failed to fit most of the options I'd ordered (after 3 weeks to sort them out) forgot!?!?!?!?!?! to deliver to second set of wheels... and haven't returned one call to me and and just sent a one line email with no information about what they plan to do.

Not a good start as after spend the best part of £12K I'm serious F***ed off with them and the Sh*t service I've received.

Let's see if they can do anything next week to try and sort things out....

At the moment all I can say is don't go near them until they sort themselves out if this is representative of their current service levels....

Oh and it was delivered with a loose front brake lever.... glad I worked that out before I needed it in anger..... !!!!!!

Still not been able to get any response from them? Anyone managed to talk to them today?

I talked to them first thing, just to check if my service was still on for tomorrow and its been cancelled , so it seems they are still on the handover period :nenau

The girl i talked to, had no idea when they would start up the shop again but I got the feeling it was days rather than weeks

When I phoned SPC this morning I was told that there were a few 'issues' which had to be sorted before they could open again. It's a bit of a nuisance as I have already exceeded 600 miles and have been told by BMW not to ride the bike any further.

I was told that the first service is to be done between 600 and 1000 miles, its just important not to give it too much stick untill they have had a chance to retorque the heads and reset the valve clearances, so you get a little bit of slack with the milage :nenau Why did BMW suggest you stopped using the bike :nenau

I was booked in for this morning (no bugger rang me to inform me otherwise), so I did 45 miles to get there and was greeted in the car park by one of the fella's on the service desk and a a big wig from BMW called Howard (nice bloke) who informed me there were 'issues to be sorted' and he didn't know when they would or if they would be opening again? Howard rang Vines of Guildford and they agreed to take the bike in. Ended up having to get the breakdown people to take it in and now face the prospect of 3 buses, six trains and eight hours to get home from work all because I wasn't informed by phone. saying that i hope it works out for SPC as they seem to be a good bunch of people they've got working there.

Hum... all makes me worry a bit when they have my money for parts they haven't delivered or fitted to my new bike yet...

Anyone else paid for stuff they've yet to receive??

CW want mine back at 800 so there must be a deal of flexibility :nenau

Latest news from an insider seem to be that administrators have taken charge whilst they try to seek a new owner.

I do hope that doesn't mean that there may be folk who've thrown down a deposit who will lose it all.

Or the staff who find themselves out of work.

On the plus side, it might be a fine time to grab a bargain or two.

My bike was due for a service today, I turned up to closed doors.

I'm in the same boat, still waiting for my Rally 2 Pants £280 they have of mine. As I understand the owner called in the administrators on Friday, they have had BMW in there doing an audit which is why they had been closed. There are a number of interested parties looking to take on the business as a going concern which means I think, that all the staff will be kept on and the name will stay the same and if you have paid for somthing you won't be out of pocket.

I hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You seem to be in the know, can you enlighten us all and dispell the myths

I called service today for a part, and a young lady told me that they were closed till further notice, or till a new owner was sorted out, and that Ron Simpson had gone.
And that's all they know.

Bollocks

Had the bike booked in for Saturday for a service. Best try somewhere else tommorow :(

I fear that even if i tell half everything that i've been told, it may only add to the myths.
