I was wanting a Wunderlich cruise control last week but could not get through to them all I got was a recorded message giving me another number to ring which was SPC's and no mention of Wunderlich. So I phoned Wunderlich in Germany and was told by a very helpful guy that they were aware of the situation regarding SPC and assured me the Wunderlich GB would reopen in a weeks time. I have not tried to contact them since as I managed to get the cruise control I wanted from Rainbows.

I'm extremely saddened to learn about SPC :(

I bought my1200GS from them in August this year, and only got the 600 mile service done in mid September.

I feel very sorry for people who may have had deposits down on a bike, or even paid for a bike and were due to pick it up, but now can't.

I'm just glad that I didn't do the 150 mile ride from Ipswich to be greeted by the BMW big wig in the car park etc now that would have peed me off big time (and hubby come to that).

I hope that all warranty stuff etc is still covered, and that another BM dealer will honour it.

I can hear a lot of you saying WHY did you go to SPC???? 150 miles away, when we have Cannons (I think they are now in Braintree Essex?) only an hour down the road. Simple, because SPC staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Cannon's on the other hand, were rude, arrogant, and couldn't give a monkeys whether they got my custom or not. When I did a test ride, the sales bloke was of the opinion that my face didn't fit, and above all, I was a bird, and birds don't ride these bikes!! :spitfire grrrrr, GIT!!

Back to SPC -that's really sad news, I just hope the sales team etc still have a job.

Now what use would a dealer at Hindhead be to those of us on the south coast?

Almost as bad as Guildford.

Southampton/Fareham/Portsmouth is where they're needed, close to decent public transport links if you need to drop your bike off and there's no loaner.

Pure selfishness on my part. I only live 5 miles from there :D
(I apologise for the selfishness, after only three weeks of working for the American Military I have started to become affected)

Deep breath.. and relax. Repeat the mantra
"It's not all about me, it's not all about me, it's not all about me"
"It's not all about me, it's not all about me, it's not all about me"
"It's not all about me, it's not all about me, it's not all about me"

I got my GS from RGS and heard similar stories when it closed.

My GS was a grey import from Europe and was a bargain (almost said steal  ).

Money laundering I heard.

How the f*** can anyone get away with a slanderous remark like that? I know I'd be pretty pissed if someone said that about me! Where's your evidence? I thought this site was moderated!

"I've heard that the police (fraud squad) are involved as well as the recievers.

Funny that RGS Motorcycles in South London dissappeard a few years ago in similar circumstances, which was run by the same virtically challenged bloke."

How the f*** do you KNOW the fraud squad are involved? Are you in the fraud squad?

Why don't you all stick to facts? Go back to whinging about the leaky doohickey cross-flange vlave that BMW refuse to fix under warranty on your 8 year old 75.000 mile shitty old bike!

The site is Moderated mate...and this Forum is Moderated too...by me.

And I`m asking you to cool down a bit.

There`s nothing slanderous about saying you`ve heard something.

And there`s no need for you to start making attacks on other people.

Chill.

Please.

Out of curiosity, is Dillinger and the "virtically challenged bloke" one in the same person or is he/she just linked to SPC???

As for slander I didnt think something was slanderous if it was ever proved to be true...

Funnily enough I had a similar story insinuated to me earlier this week. Nothing specific was said, but the general line of the conversation was you dont see legit businesses going under like that...

I too bought my 1200GS from them this August and am really sorry to see SPC go under. They were a good crew and I hope things pan out ok for them. Maybe this was the reason Rob at times seemed miserable – but if I was struggling to survive like him I would be too!

Off topic a bit, but repeating libel is still libel. So if what your heard was libelous, then repeating it would be libel as well.

I say Libel rather than Slander becuase Slander is spoken, Libel is written (including e-mail, forums etc).

This information was broiught to you by "Keeping the site owners out of Nick agency" :D

cheers

After Dillingers little outburst, (although I agree, in part, with his post) which unfortunately came across as a bit PMT, I feel I must add something

I feel I must sympathise a bit with Bob and other businessmen who have had a thriving business go down the tubes. Only to get slated/slandered/bad mouthed by others who know little of the facts, with most of them their knowledge of business is either very second hand, a product of chinese whispers, or even just plain misguided, sticking your hand out at the end of the month for your wages is no way of understanding the ups and downs and pressures of small business life.

Bob managed to employ a fair few people in his few years at Farringdon, a lot of happy customers are riding bikes, wearing clothing, sat drinking his coffee and eating his buscuits. and a lot of us should be grateful for Bob and his co-workers efforts.

The only person to know the whole story will be Bob, I really feel for the guy. He was always ready to do a deal to keep a customer happy, perhaps that was part of the problem, who knows, no, he didn't want to stand around talking bollocks, because at the end of the day it was his business, now the business has gone, i'm sure he is hurting both financially and emotionally at the loss.

Perhaps the average Joe Bloggs who has lost his deposit, or is slightly down on his luck over the closing of SPC has now had the smallest insight now into business life and what happens when it all goes "tits up"

Just my opinion you understand,

Had a freind in my bakery this morning, left his good job, bought a bakery/coffee shop.

Started all up beat, but I noticed some cracks in his confursation, ended up after two years not that good for him he`s just brakeing even, and he wants me to go and have a look.

Not to buy, but I will end up telling him to shut the doors :( see it to many times before.

Money management, he has 3 bakers and not in control, not easy out there.

I'm telling my mum :D

I am always fascinated with people who like to throw stones, even though an issue had nothing to do with them or impacted them in anyway. Maybe they are the ones who deserve bad luck and misfortune!

I think Dillinger's comments was right, the fact he used less polite language doesn't make it wrong. he has a point ... where are you getting all this information from? Even genuine customers aren't getting that information. Also .. are you letting others here know about it to help them with their problem because the company has gone into receivership? I suspect not .. you are just throwing stones because it makes you happy to see other people fall!

As a customer of SPC for the last 4 years, I had great service from them. I always felt I got a good deal and they were interested in having me as a customer and not just a sales target. I went on tours with them and Bob and his staff were nice people. I certainly enjoyed their company on holiday and felt they were all genuinely nice people (Bob included!).

Given I know nothing about the background of the fall apart from one conversation with an ex-employee .. I would give Bob the benefit of the doubt.

I wonder how many of you enjoyed his hospitality in the past (drinking his coffee, eating his cakes) and now are just throwing stones because it makes you feel good. :nono Actually I know at least one person on this forum that used to write nasty remakes about Bob, yet you would find the guy in his shop on saturday drinking the coffee and eating the cakes. I would have thrown you out of my shop!

For me luckily I was not affected too badly by the closure of SPC. I certainly feel for the ex-employees who were great enthusiastic employees. I also heard Bob suffered a heart attack (not verified, just from a passing conversation) so I suspect he is not really enjoying the closure as some of you may imply.

Just my thoughts :rob
