theres nothing special it just makes the job easier, you can undo it with a big set of grips if you havent got the tool

Then take your new filter ( the one you intend to fit) along to a motor factors and they may well have something that will fit.

I could not find a match here and ended up buying from the dealer, not too dear (sob, sob).
Try Ashgrove Interpart in Deans Grange, you will need a spare filter to check.
Maddocks probably have them for not too much money if you want to get the job done asap.
