Specialized Turbo Creo 2 - Anyone got one?

Decided its time to get an electric pedal bike for the road, shoulder injuries mean I can only road ride and the Yorkshire hills here are extreme for my lardy arse and it means im not going as further afield as I would like to.

I just wondered if anyone has the turbo creo 2 road/gravel electric bike and has any tips or feedback, and would the peasant spec be a big no no?
 
I would also consider a hardtail e-mountain bike. As they are assisted, the weight doesn't matter that much. Canyon are doing great deals, this one has the new Bosch ABS system for instance:

 
I’ve got a Creo 1 which I bought second hand - it’s done around 5,000 miles and is on the original motor and battery. This is my third Specialized e-bike - I’ve had a Levo SL and a Vado so have used both motors in the past. They are generally regarded as one of the best motors on the market, and I hear of very few issues.

My only observation about the Creo (in common with the Levo) was the noise that the SL motor makes. This is a byproduct of the design of the motor - whereas the non-SL motor uses toothed belts for drive, the SL uses geared wheels which generate a bit of a whine noise which you can definitely hear in use. I’ve heard that the Gen2 SL motors are quieter but I haven’t ridden one to test.

The only thing that you can never upgrade on an e-bike is the frame and motor - so I’d suggest getting the very best frame you can afford. That said, there aren’t many particular benefits of a carbon frame over an alloy frame (apart from a small weight advantage and car park bragging rights) so it’s a moot point here. Mine is carbon, but I’d have bought it had it been alloy without hesitation.

Overall, it is an amazing bike - you can’t really go wrong. Just see if you can buy one at a discount or on a cycle to work scheme as they aren’t known for being a cheap brand…

Thanks for the replies gents, I dont think a mountain bike or flat bars would do it as I am used to a specialised allez and getting 30-40mph down the hills, I would be like a barn door bolt upright

A used creo might be an option, as there is no money off a new one and start at 4k.

Ive done this route for 3 years now and can shave a few minutes off in summer when doing it a few times a week, the hill at the end always wipes me out!

Purchase imminent!

I bought a used Creo 1 from this site last April. It is aluminium framed and absoutely fine. I can easily get 75 miles and 5k feet from a charge on a single ride....the first full charge and several shorter rides saw 109 miles and 9900 feet of climbing (I did it all in 'eco' or whatever the least assistance is called) They're superb things altho as mentioned above....a bit noisy...but I really don't mind that. The joy of the creo is that it's pretty lightweight and rides nicely without power...and obviously above 15.5mph the noisy motor becomes silent....but your legs start to scream a bit.

Yep thats the one and living at Blackley, I tend to head out the Elland side, as M62 is the other way.

The creo either 1 or 2 sounds good, 75 miles should be more than enough for me (y)
 
I love riding from brighouse, over Poland moor and onto do a circuit of scammonden dam and back, thanked for E-bikes
 
Cheers...another one for the list...we generally stop for a brew and food at The Oil Can Cafe at Holmfirth (one daughter lives Warwickshire, tother at Sandy Lane Bradford/Bingley so a trip 'home' involves driving between the two.

That sounds a bit of a trek, I used to be over at Sandy Lane, the houses behind the cricket field - bought one in 1999 when they were new build
 
She's just abit down the road..Acacias....but her FiL lives at the very top of that estate you lived on and they're likely moving to his house soon when he goes into sheltered...small world.
