I am after buying some new tyres....I have TKC 80s on at the moment and they are not my cup of tea at all. They grip OK on the grass (which is as far as I have taken this bike off road...I'll pluck up courage when she gets a bit older!) The rumble on the road and the funny lean feeling doesn't fill me with confidence - great for not getting more points on my license though. ;) The deal breaker though, for me, is that I have killed them in 3 weeks. I can't afford to go through tyres at that rate - so I am looking at trying the Heidenau Scout K60s...but looking to buy them, there are several types of K60 Scout. Presumably differing compounds, they do a so called 'winter tyre' K60 M+S Sio2
The price from pneus online is very attractive (£121 delivered the pair - I hope I have got the size right for the 1150Adv) so what can those who have used Heidenaus tell me - and specifically about these silicon version ones.

Gratzi mille. :thumby:

TKC 80 tyres wear very fast for the first 800 miles of road, then the wear rate slows dramatically and they're certainly not renowned for any grip on grass!

Plan B, get a second set of wheels :beerjug:

Thanks - but I have done over 17,000 miles in the last 2 months......these TKcs have all but gone in that time and only lasted about 4000 so far, I might get another 1000 out of them before they have very little (1.5m) in the middle. At which point I wouldn't be happy using them any more.

Contrast that to Tourances (old type) where I have yet to get less than 13,000 out of a pair. Obviously, same rider, bike and riding conditions. I know the Tourance are a road tyre, and I want to start doing a bit of the easy tracks from time to time....but not the price TKCs cost. I will forego the tracks because I can't fund them. My thinking was the Heidenaus might give me close to Tourance miles and a bit more chunky grip for the tracks, at reasonable cost. The problem I have is there are 3 types of K60 Scout that I have found.

ps - second set of wheels - I have, but changing them requires a trip to someone who can help me.

Good price that. Mind telling us where from?

Never understood quite the difference between the versions, but I can tell you they're the same tread pattern. Not sure it makes much difference in practical terms :thumb2

150/70 x 17
110/80 x 19

Cheapest I found on my last order was Oponeo at bang on £150, arrived in 3 days :thumb2

Try the TKC70, a compromise?
Reasonable grip for a dual purpose tyre and comfortable in the wet, I got 6k miles from the rear all done with a pillion and loads of kit.

Anakee 3s are much better but wear quicker and won't grip well off the road but will let you run around on smooth gravel tracks if you need to.
