I've been considering a 1200RT for a while now, and have found a 2006 model with 15k on the clock.

I'm not yet familar with the 1200RT's yet, coming from the airhead side!

Can anyone please provide any specific points to look for in the model/year.

Thinking about any recalls, particular parts that break (plastics in particular),
electrics, common failures etc, etc.

What is the opinion on mpg? I'm not a 'hard' driver, will be using for work travelling so easy on the throttle.

Apparently the service book has 3 BMW stamps in it. Is this right for the miles/year?
Oils have been changed every year.

Thanks, in anticipation.

No worries...

It may well have servo-assisted brakes. These work really well, but can be a little snatchy at low speed, whine a bit, and cost a fortune if the pump fails.
From my experience, the earlier bikes were well built; I had only minor electrical problems with my 05.

It "should" have more stamps in the book, but so long as the oil has been changed every 6,000 miles, then I'd be happy. Check the usual stuff + final drive for any play :thumb

Over 60mpg from mine.... don't hang about either!
