Speed Camera Alerts

On another thread here I got an excellant link to download the Speed Camera database for a Garmin.

This i duly did, and it works like a charm.

(It works as a transparent Map which which sits on top of your normal maps. This works and better have it rather than not).

However here's the question. I have a Garmin 2720 which has a feature which will acoustically alert you to POI's, so does anybody know how (if at all possible) to convert this Speed Camera Map into a POI list?

Or indeed if there is a POI Speed Camera list anywhere else?

use garmins poi loader it worked for me

Just tried the POI Loader as you suggestedgot nowhere very quickly.

Have you done this from the Speed Map I downloaded ?

if so could you give me a more detailed instruction.

When I look in the folder where the Speed Maps are the majority of files have the .img extension the POI Loader doesn't recognise this extension in itsdrop down box of file types.

Just looked at your place in Spain (very nice) When you say rent, is that by the week, or are you looking for longer periods. I ask this as it could form a sort of test ride (so to speak).

if your talking about the speed map that was very kindly uploaded by another member yes i used it and i loaded it to my 2720 using the poi loader worked a treat BUT if its the clear map that was also kindly upladed you need to use mapsource to over write the maps on the unit

It sounds like you've used a different one to me, I used the clear MAP version which sits on top of the existing MAP, and therefore, not being a POI It's not giving me the proximity alerts.

Any chance you could give me the link to the one you got which you then used your poi uploader on.

right ......done all that (thanks for the link) now got it on my 2720, I can see the cameras on my map now.

However, am I right in thinking it should give me a verbal warning as i near a camera ?

if it should how do i set that up?

I have proximity set to on. but nothing happens.
