Just got the bike and used the Navigator IV / Zumo 660 today for the first time.

Whenever I go a bit too quickly through a speed limited zone the bloody thing continuously beeps at me and flashes a red box on the screen telling me I'm in a 30 zone.

The Proximity Alerts only enables you to turn the safety camera warning on or off. I have been through the machine and RTFM but can't find how to turn off the speed limit warnings and that bloody noise.

Can anyone help?

from memory it is in settings and audio (audible alerts !
3 options
continuous. single or off

In Settings all I have is the following:

System, Navigation, Display, Time, Language, Map, Vehicle Selection, Bluetooth, Proximity Points, Fuel Gauge, Security.

Can't find it in any of them.

Have downloaded the latest software so am on 5.1.

Here's a radical thought, slow down to 30 and it won't be a problem. Just imagine it's your kids out playing as the idiot in the car or bike speeds through the 30 zone and the damage your bike or car will do to him/her if they happened to stray into the road.

In my experience 30 zones tend to be there for very good reasons, pity I can't say the same about 40 or 50 zones. Save the 'excess' for the open road when you can enjoy it.

I absolutely agree with you Jeff. I tend to ride at what I consider a safe speed. Definitely not a hooligan. I have had a clean licence for 25 years (long may that continue). Often through towns and villages I'm below 30, past schools at throwing out time when theres a danger of kids walking out from behind parked cars as low as 20. However, the 30 zones and 40 zones often stretch out a long way past the built up area of a village and I do consider it safe from time to time to stretch the speed up to 35 in the 30 and 45 in the 40. I know I'm doing it and don't need a bollocking from my sat nav.
