Speedo drive seal

Dropped my gear box oil again and found lots of water in the oil. Anyone have a solution to sealing the speedo drive other than with silicone?

Tried a new boot and silicone grease and it still leaks in a bit. I've read about using a tie wrap to help seal the top of the boot onto the cable, but not tried it myself.
