speedo making funny noises...no laughing

the speedo has started making a funny noise, thought it was the cable but no such luck !

i suppose it is on it's way out, and i suppose they are not able to be dismantled for inspection or maintaince. i see the bezel is swaged on.

any ideas ????

the speedo has stopped making the funny noise......in fact it´s stopped working.

it appears the speedo is made in the UK, does anyone know who by ?

i am going to remove the bezel and try to fix it, would like to know if i could get a new bezel from them.

they don´t make em like they used too....the old SMITHS instruments used to have a screw on bezel.

by the way i´m not trying to ´clock´ the old girl !!!

the thing is shot. it seems that the bush or bearing on the input has seized solid, i´ve had the thing apart but there is no repair possible....as most things these days !

any idea how much a new one is ? i wouldn´t normally ask but i´m in Peru.

I have a spare KLM's one sitting in London. You can have that for £30 + P&P. I will pick another one up when I need it later (only got it to convert the bike when I go back to OZ). Not sure of the Kilometre reading on it.

Just looked at your profile and I assume you are on your 1150 Adv.

Just asked SPC, new speedo for 1150 Adv is £72.50 +VAT. If it exported, ie being sent to you there in Peru, you do not pay the VAT.

when i purchased the bike i asked for a KPH speedo to be fitted because i was doing so many miles outside the UK, therefore the speedo you have ´ozrockrat´will do just fine if the ratio is the same as the ´adventure´.....can you check this out ¿

can you see out how much it will cost to send the speedo to Quito in Ecuador and how long it will take to get there. the last spares i had sent to south america took around one week via the ´Royal mail´. i suppose you will not know until monday, by that time i will try to get an address in Quito for you.

as for the money, any ideas how i can pay you ?. if you don´t have any ideas perhaps i can get my brother (in the UK) to send you a cheque for the 30 quid plus P+P.

by the way ´Charlie B´ i suppose the speedo is only available in MPH, thanks for checking it out anyway.

I just checked out the part number on my spare compared to the one from an Adv. They are not the same. My spare one is part no 62-12-2-306-505 and the one for the Adv is 62-12-2-350-609. Looks as though it will not be suitable for you.

hi, did you check on a USA website, because i just did and that number comes up as a MPH speedo. perhaps this is the difference.

maybe it will still be OK, i will try to check it out more

what bike did yours come off ?
