Speedo Rev counter and Trip dial?

Riding along on the KTM and i realise No trip working or mileage and yet Rev counter needle working and speedo?
I look at the right hand cable down to the Hub and the thing had snapped off?
Now , I was led to believe if this happens you loose Dials as well as Milaege?
But if this is Correct than it could be a huge scam. Disconnect it and the dials still work but no Milaege. Is this now legal as Speedo is working?
Plus is this cable something else...... Surely not, Left side Brake cable , right side Speedo cable....Right

Spoke to a Brackens Today and they are freaked out.
It should not happen?
No cable no Speedometer!
