Hoping for some insight.
Changed to HID bulb which entailed removing the light and instrument cluster (adjuster ball had popped it's housing.
Since then have noticed that immediately after start up, the revs drop to zero for perhaps half a second, the LCD blanks momentarily then comes back.
The odometer also defaults back to total mileage at each start but it does not lose the trip mileage.

Anyone experienced this?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Ballast on RHS well away from clocks - and its been there for 3 years or so as I only changed bulb for a glare-free H7R, not noticed this prob before.

Wonder if it could be the ballast that is causing it electrically speaking , spikes or whatever?

when you start the bike and the HID kicks in the ballast delivers a big wack of volts to ignite it, it then settles to a lower running voltage and stabilises after about 5 seconds, it might be that your change of bulb has altered the kick due to some different characteristics and its now different enough to spike the clocks briefly, it may not do any damage but then again in time it might, don't really know

there have also been issues with some of the cheaper ebay import type ballasts, not that I know the heritage of yours!

Had almost the same last fall. Had the ballast on the bracket that hold the wind screen at the lower end. Moved the ballast and problem is solved.

Good luck:beerjug:
