My speedo is fine up to abart 50 mph, then when I go faster the needle swings in a mad fashion from abart 20 to 100. I have checked the cable and it seems OK - is the speedo knackered? Anyone else had similar? R100GS abart 40,000 on it.

Mine stopped working altogether - when I dismantled the cockpit fairing I found the nut holding the cable to the back of the speedo had come loose.
There have been guys on here who have had their speedos rebuilt, I believe there’s some one in Germany who does it and also someone in the states - might be worth trying cable replacement first.

Yup, I've got a replacement and will fit it... I'll go from there! Having looked at the plastic cover on the drive end it seems a little worn... can't see why that would make the speedo slip however!
Don't get rid of it, it can be rebuilt and still have value.
I sent mine off to this chap. Unfortunately it was beyond repair but he was very knowledgeable
