OK - recently purchased a SPIII from Mark Dilloway, (thank you for your patience and training session) and generally have managed to find me way around the thing.

....Other than...how do you upload the tracklog from the unit to the PC.....and how do you save (or post) a selected portion of the track log?????

Question is related to a cracking ride-out to Wales at the weekend, and I would like to be able to post the track (with details) for other members.

It depends which version of MapSource you are using on your PC.

If v6.0.6, you should hook up your SPIII using the serial port lead (the one that plugs into the top of the SPIII), turn on the SPIII, then go the transfer icom and thenreceive from device ... which opens up a pop-up in which you can check 'tracks' and away you go.

Earlier versions of MapSource had a dedicated button icon for uploading data.

As a virgin myself but its something like this:-

Just plug the SPIII into your PC via the serial port lead, make sure that the unit is switched on, then open the Mapsource on your desktop.

On the toolbar on the top you will see two little symbols of the SPIII unit, one with the arrow pointing out the other the arrow pointing in.

Hold the cursor over each one, one will say "save from device" the other "save to divice", click on the icon "save from device", you then have a choice either download from the serial port lead or the USB programmer, select serial port then select all.

It really is that easy....

I would also suggest taking the Mapsource Tour, which can be found in the Tools menu, I think? Then print of the pages that you think you might need, it does explain it all quite well.

Hope this helps?
