Hi All,

Nephew touring Europe on his 1150 and has been stuck with split front brake hose. BMW dealers closed until Monday due to holidays etc. Can anyone offer any help or suggestions.

Many thanks

Motor factors may be able to give him something similar?? I mean off a car IF he can take the offending bit into them??

There was a BMW recall about two years ago on the 1150 GS for the front hoses splitting, was it done ?

Use the back brake, or just kick back and wait until Monday, what's the rush:cool:

Same thing happened to me a few years ago
It happened Saturday morning as I turned onto a motorway - dealers not open until Tuesday
Rode several hundred miles with no front brake. - engine braking, rear brake and slowing down did the trick.
With hind sight - should have gone to a specialist brake place as they could have put a new hose on the existing ends. Much cheaper and quicker than a BMW one

Unfortunately you wait until Monday, then the dealer has to order it etc etc.

It will take a few days, but if your nephew can replace it himself, he could try these people

It's Probrake in Germany. Good quality and a lot cheaper than BM.

I ordered a part from them that had to be specially made on Sunday night and it was at my UK address by Thursday. If the part is on the shelf, you might get next day delivery if you explain the problem.

Hope this helps

Mike

I was speaking to a guy who had his split coming down Hardknott Pass

He now rides a KTM

Thanks for all the reply's.

He is still stuck in Italy waiting for the Italians to get there acts together! Despite all the promises from Green Flag its it would have been easier to get one here and send it out with UPS/TNT etc. Oh well!

Thanks once again.

is it...?

a metal hose or a flexi broken?most garages can remake the metal ones out of copper, easy, flexi is a bit more tricky.
