Spoke wheel for 1200GS - alt suppliers ?

Hi,

I'm considering buying some spoke wheels for my GS. The idea being to keep the road tyres on the cast wheels and put some knobblies on the spoke wheels for a trip abroad on dirt roads.

My question is, other than the BMW spoke wheels, are there any other suppliers of spoke wheels for 1200GS I should consider ? Has anyone got non-BMW spokes ? I've tried a couple of places but they don't build wheels for the GS because of the tubeless tyres.

I have also pondered this question and emailed various specialist wheel builders (even offering to supply a set of BMW hubs) to no avail.

Dont forget that you will need brake discs too.Are they fitted to any other bikes in the BMW range.I have looked in the EBC web site but the 1200GS is not listed.

If I remember rightly, Woodie can supply conventional GS12 hubs and cross spoke rims. You'll then need to buy discs and abs ring if needed.

But taking into account postage and import tax, they come to more than OE BW spoked wheels fully fitted with discs etc.

I decided it's cheeper to replace my allies in the long run, while keeping an eye out for a set of S/H spoked wheels.
