Looked at a 1300 Triple Black yesterday.

I’d be grateful for the experiences of owners on the cleaning / upkeep of the rims especially. I noted that the rim finish is not smooth but a very slight grit/grain to it. The bike I looked at had gold wheels.

Having previously owned 1250 GS Exclusive with cast wheels, they were low maintenance and easy to keep clean.

Hence I am considering cast wheels should I order this model.

Thanks in advance.

Had black spoked wheels on a Crosstourer, pain in the arse to clean

Had alloys on my 1200 , easier to clean

Now got gold spoked wheels on my 1300 ‘cos I didn’t like the look of black wheels on the Trophy, hopefully they’ll be better than the Crosstourer :D

Having had numerous spoked wheels ive always found a complete pain to clean round the brake disk area even with a brush.

My bike has cast wheels a breeze in comparison.

I was thinking about asking the same question. But then did a search on here. Looks like a wipe with a cloth and Wd40 is quite popular.. Not tried it yet though

Forged is the way forward 👍 1800 miles in washed 6 times …. But I do only 300 miles a time . Washed until it shines

What is this ‘cleaning’ you speak of?
I was referring to the actual rims. It’s difficult to describe what texture I was expecting and there are plenty of products out there. I was interested in owners experiences.

Forged would be my ultimate choice but they are very limited on current stock availability, so I’m settling for spoked. Thanks for the reply and you have my total agreement 👍

Remember Muc Off strips coating and is shite , use a neutral cleaner such as Gtechniq etc as better for all surfaces . I use MUC Strip once on a set of annodised wheels and they were bleached after

the gtechniq stuff appears top quality, I hadn't heard of them but my car is ceramic coated with some of their stuff, expensive but worth it.
