Guys

I am new to this site but have been browsing over the many forums on the GS over the last few weeks.

I thought I should add a short few lines to try and help answer the question I have been having sleepless nights over. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 16years old all of which have been sportsbikes. I have competed in local clubman short circuit racing for years leading on to the Irish Superbike Championships.

Over he last few years I finished racing and started riding on the roads again firstly on a Tl1000R and more recently an ZX10R.

Without sounding long winded I considered the GS its benefits can be found throughout this site but I did not think I could shift the desire of a sportsbike especially my ZX10R.

I drove down to trade my ZX10R for a R1200GSA and stopped several times asking myself am I mad. I nearly turned back twice. I was that confused the guy offered to take the bike back no questions asked after the weekend if I didnt like it.

Result: He can keep the ZX10R I will not be going back to sportsbikes again it is awesome. My pennies worth for any sportbike rider considering the same change take the bike for a ride on your favorite twisty road see for yourself.

I never could see the day that I would be off the sportbikes for a bike like a GS but hey I am converted.

welcome john,
the GS gets us all in the end:D
enjoy.:thumb

anyone would think it was a choice for the rest of your life.

try it - if u don't like it - change it... :nenau :mmmm

Welcome chum. I'm glad that it has worked out. The alps will be a whole different place now that you have moved to the dark side. I hope to join you soon. Health to enjoy.:thumb :thumb

If I had to choose just one bike it would probably be the GS but having been out on my sports bike all weekend the power, braking and cornering are IMHO a step above the GS. I know lots will dissagree.

If I'm really "on it" the sportsbike would leave the GS for dead.
In most every normal situation (ie, going to work, a long journey, pouring with rain, traffic, etc, etc) the GS wins hands down.

All the fun, none of the pain.

Just my 2p.
