Spot light problem

Hi all

My front left (when sat on the bike) aux light has stopped working. Had a lampf warning last week but a stop start cured that (or so I thought) been out today and didn't notice that only one aux light is working. Had my tester out and seems i've lost the supply to the left hand side. Had a full HiD system fitted by Les recently if that helps anyone in any way.

Spots have their own fuses, take a look there if you are sure there is no power at the lamp.

I should've paid more attention Les...! Found the fuses in the end...least I know how to remove lots of panels now

I find if I leave my HID fog lights turned on, the fuse blows when cranking the bike over due to the volt drop/increased surge current trying to strike up the HID burners. If I start the engine then switch on the fog lights once running, the fuses are fine. Perhaps yours are similar ??

Failure of the aux lamps has no bearing at all on the Lampf (or Lamps) warning on the dash. They are switched by conventional relays rather than the CANBus (and have their own conventional melty-wire fuses too).

If volts are dropping too much on engine start it could be the battery is failing or the starter is weak.

I replaced my OEM auxiliary headlights (as BMW call them) with two pairs of LEDs. Wide angle for daylights and narrow beams that work only with main beam. If you can get LED dimmers to work (and I have on other bikes) then two narrow angle lights will do the job.
