Have just fitted a pair of spotlights to the GS, what a difference they make. Only thing is I didn't spend £300 getting them. Went down to my local Halfords store and got a very nice looking pair of spotlight / driving lamps for the grand total of £29.00. They're really well made with a robust alloy body, got blue tinted glass lens and come with 55watt halogen bulbs fitted, relay box, a dash mount illuminated switch (which I didn't use) and all the wiring / connectors.
They're designed to fit into the spoilers on boy racer cars. They're slightly oval in shape, measure about 65mm X 50mm X 85mm long. Had to re-make some brackets to mount them (dead easy) onto the GS crash bar.
I bought one of those little magic switch / control boxes from Nippy Normans for £19.00, so they now switch on and off using the indicator cancel button, with a little LED warning light (turns green when they're on, red when off) stuck to the top edge of the dash with a dab of clear silicon.
Took about two and a half hours (ish) to fit and the result is brilliant...!

Job done for less than £50.00.
So it's down to the pub with all the money I've saved :beerjug:
If I could suss out how to post some pictures on here I would, so you see the finished article.

Nice one! I bought a pair of small round ones from Halfords, 25watt Halogens, which I use as running lights; about £20 each from memory. Two years on they're absolutely fine and if they were damaged or stolen it's not going to break the bank to replace them.

Got mine from How much, a Tosser on this site, He had fitted them to a light bar, pre wired the lot, with fuses and with indicator cancel switch relay, with just 4 wires to connect, and they bolted under the beak, just under the oil cooler, all bolts and ties and clips included and with postage, for £85. and yes really bight, also about 2.5 hours to fit.

Thanks for sending that link. I will get the camera out tomorrow and try to add some photos.
Keep your fingers crossed, you're dealing with a complete novice technophobe here....:thumb :type

How do you get the pictures off the box brownie onto the computer in the first place...????

That's only a joke guy's, I've got a Kodak Instamatic, nobody uses a box brownie these days...!

From the description these lamps sound like the same ones as supplied by 'How Much' - an excellent choice.

i installed a set of running lights on mine

the lamps were 15 quid off fleabay

a tenner for wire/crimps/relay and switch for the handlebars

35 quid for some stainless brackets (cheers VAL.H) so they're mounted under the beak and turn with the bars

the only problem is that the bikes alternator cant handle the spots on and the heated grips up full at the same time it kills the battery

good mod for about £60 though
