In a fit of recklessness I've registered to race in the Aintree Motorcycle Sprint on the 27th July..... On the GS.

Was hoping to have something slightly lighter in the stable by then, but no deals have appeared - so the Bratwurst will be lined up alongside some supercharged hyabusas and other assorted machinery.

Wish me luck - and if you fancy a giggle, come along and cheer!

Can you not at least persuade someone to loan you a 1200 so that the result isn't too embarassing......? :nenau

Ha

Ha Ha good on ya, good luck, let us who can't make it to support ya know how ya got on, I recon you'll beat most of the line, then ya might have a bit of trouble, I salute you Dangerous Den, regards Dusan :D
PS I once beat my mate away from the lights he was on his Suzuki GSX 1000 K5, and I've never let him forget it!! :D

Good skills Den! Looks like I have a tough act to follow.........
Toolkit and rear seat will be left behind in a vain attempt to save weight I think.

I am marshalling and Mrs Haydw is deputy Clerk of the Course for the event. And no- she is not open to bribes!!

I was on the startline for this event last year- it was a really good laugh. The ZX12R trike with the big wing on the back was particularly interesting. Looking forward to a good day.....

Just an update Haydw, I've managed to 'procure' a ducati for the sprint, in case you are watching out for me on the GS. Race number 132....

The only place I could see from ( last season ) for the club racing at Aintree was on the start finish...so I havn't bothered this year. This event looks interesting.....I presume it will be held on the back straight section next to the houses? Where do us :bow spectatots go to watch?

Cheers Kenny

The event is actually held on the horse racing side so you have the big grandstands to watch from. Instead of going to the Melling road entrance go to the Aintree race course main entrance further up on the A59. You will then be able to see the whole paddock, all the race bikes and the VMCC displays. Believe me, you will be able to see an awful lot more.

Apparently the startine is 50m further back than last year to give the big bikes a bit more slow down space. rumour has is there is a couple of blown Hayabusas that should make life very interesting.......

Well ................did ye do it ?

I did indeed, although I used the ducati in the end rather than the GS. As it happens it was a bit of an error, the duc had a fuel breather blockage and was dog slow - reckon I'd have been quicker on the GS (embarrassingly) hey ho, all good experience!
