Trying to install new front sprocket but the darn thing just won't go on. Last one came off no issues and there was zero play in it.

Do i want to heat or freeze the new one?

Freezing the sprocket will only make it tighter. I have never had any problems with removing or fitting sprockets to my f650gs. Have you tried giving the output shaft a really good clean? BTW both times I have fitted new sprockets they were Renthal ones, don't know if that helps. :nenau

Andy.

Is it an OEM BMW sprocket?

Should just nicely slide on ... fitted a few to mine over the 103.000 miles never a problem, but always OEM

:beerjug:

Likewise - never had problems before and always used Renthal which have been a perfect fit. Output shaft spotless.

This one is an AFAM (they're the only company who make an 18 tooth) which i've seen fitted (on the web at least  )

Definitely the right one. In fact it's only the second one i can find that's fitted anywhere (the other being a chap in Germany who posted on ADV with serial number showing). According to supplier only one sold in UK. Left it (and the Rental perfect fit one) with a shop to do some work. It was 0.4 mm out. Perfect now. Let's see whether it makes a difference to economy...sod's law after all this not a jot!

Thank you all for your input,

S
