Can somebody point me in the direction of what type of screw this is / and the best place to purchase, i need a slightly longer version. I know rock all about thread types, pitches and angles and all that stuff.
Its from the pannier latch on the BMW ali panniers that screws from the inside into the plastic pannier latch casing on the outside. I know its an M5 and 12mm, with a shoulder but that's it. it seems to have a thread gap of about 2.6mm with my limited measure skills. Is it a self tapper ? I'll be looking for m5 and 14mm. Plenty come up on searches but have different specs so i've no idea which one to get and i'd prefer not to mess existing threads up un the latch with the wrong one.
Reason ? I bought a pair of bottle luggage plates from nippys that fits behind the pannier latch which are circa 2mm thick stainless steel. Box 1 had instructions saying use the original BMW screws (12mm), box 2 had instructions saying replace with the 4 replacement longer ones 2mm longer (14mm). So basically 1 box had nothing and the other 4 new longer ones. Clearly its and old version and a new version and they've changed for a reason. Nippys are being about as much use as a chocolate fireguard when i point the issue out and it'll be overall easier if i just get my own.
