Picked up 1150GS this morning.

Bleedin' brilliant.

It has a Spyball Patriot alarm fitted which the dealer was at pains to point out is NOT covered by the 12 month warranty the bike has, even though the bike is only 19 months old.

I was advised to get a charger which will trickle charge the bike to stop the alarm draining the battery.

I think this can be plugged into the accessory socket.

I have heard some chargers definitely do NOT suit the Beemers, so which chargers work well in the experience of this board's members, and where do I get a cheap one from ?

I was a bit alarmed (ha) to find out that if I disable the alarm with the secret code I have got for it, then this effectively means it can NEVER be used again. Is this really the case ?

Cheers

no such thing as a good cheap charger i use the optimate 111 for my adv and i have never had a problem yet .. for an extra couple of quid ya can get the accesory plug to fit into the socket on the bike it works a treat , oall in all about forty notes should see you right and its well spent i can tell yer..

Wasn't aware they'd gone bust - then again, I called them in February..................If the tech mgr answers the mobile, you'll know!

Still, I've just insured the bike and they wanted the model number and it got me a discount, so can't be that bad.

I've used an Optimate for the last five years. Never had a problem with it and the bike fires up every time. The makers say that you can leave a battery hooked up for up to two years at a time.
Enjoy your new 'bike;)

Not much good connected for two years is it? The bikes is for riding not charging the battery.....

I also have an optimate and it works well I find two evenings a year sufficient

The Pan Enormous has this alarm and it hasn't missed a beat in two years despite being left withoug being run for weeks on end (the 'sleep' mode is a Godsend).I have a manual if you want a copy just ask. Spyball (Italian company) have gone bust but Nevis Marketing, the UK distributor are still going. If you did want it removed Roger Miles can put you onto the chap who removed his for a reasonable sum.
