So my 71 plate 1250GSA has this irritating little squeak coming from the front disc's when moving. When I gently hold the front brake on, it goes away.

Any idea what this is about? My previous 1250GS didn't have this noise..

So irritating and I don't want to chuck a few £100's at it only for it to return in a couple days..

That disc looks shot to me. Is the other side the same? I thinks new discs and pads will solve it. How many miles on them? It not just scored, it's pitted too.

How often is the bike used? Where is it stored? When was the last time the calipers were serviced?

How on earth did the discs get pitted like that ?
What I want to know.

Bike has 11030 miles on it. I imagine they are original discs and pads.

Anyone know how much a set of discs and pads are?

Just rang BMW dealer near me.

£200 per disc (2 required), £20 for 10 bolts for the discs, £108 for 4 pads, fasteners - £44 for 2

My ‘19 GSA has 21k on it and my disks are still like new ??

The disks should last longer than that, the reason for that pitting would worry me, perhaps it's from the past owner.

You won't need the bolts or the pad clips.

Few questions.

Is the pitting all the way around. Or just in an isolated position?
Is the pitting in the same place on the other disc?

Looks to me like it was caused by the brake pads when the bike was stored?

Get discs elsewhere. There's a thread somewhere with supplier Louis Moto? Their prices are more palatable.

No it seems to be on the one disc and only partly.

I'll have a look - thanks for that! I am very keen to try this myself so any ££ saved is handy!

Sound like the discs are going through puberty,

give em a couple of years and it will develop into a lower bass drone :)

As others have said discs fubared, and pads also i would say

You don't need to replace the bolts if they're still in good condition. They're not a single use/stretch bolt. Clean off the old thread lock, and apply new before re-using.

I got my new discs from here; only £290 for the pair.

And only £85 for a set of pads;
