I put the sintered (red) ones in my 1300
That should have read 1200

And those fit straight onto the bike? You don't need to replace the bolts if they're still in good condition. They're not a single use/stretch bolt. Clean off the old thread lock, and apply new before re-using.
I got my new discs from here; only £290 for the pair.

And only £85 for a set of pads;
And those fit straight onto the bike?
I've cleaned the pads and calipers (not as hard as I thought) - the noise went away briefly but then returned once I got up to speed so think either new pads or new pads AND disc.
Great advice - thanks pal.Have you got a micrometer to check the disc thickness? They may be starting to pit as they are close to, or possibly below the min thickness of 4mm.
Yes. They are OEM discs/pads. Straight fit onto the Bike, without any messing around.
My main advice is to make sure the surface of the wheel is as flat and clean as possible. And also clean the bolts and threads of the old thread lock before applying new.
The old bolts in there will be tough to get out. I'd advise using a manual impact driver to help break them free.

Great advice - thanks pal.
Lastly - those stupid e-clip things that go onto the back of the two bolts that hold the pads in, how did you get yours in? None of my 4 clips would go in and I'm not sure how safe it is to ride around without them in![]()
Yeah mine are 6NM too I believe. They should just push through the pins
The pins are only torqued to 6 Nm on the Brembo calipers, don’t know for the Hayes (if you’re posh and use a torque wrench)
Useful torque chart here…….
Great advice - thanks pal.

Are those ebay links for Brembo pads and discs?Ah, i wasn't aware your Bike had Hayes calliper, not Brembo (the discs are still the same). '21 is the year both were available, IIRC. I've no direct experience with the Hayes set up.
Are your pins locating as far in as they should go? Is there enough gap for the e-clips to locate into the recess?
Are those ebay links for Brembo pads and discs?
Yeah the bolt is in all the way but, no matter how hard I push the clips in, they just fall out.
I might just order some new e-clips for these bolts. I'll just keep checking them till I can get the pin onYes, but the discs are used for both the Hayes & Brembo set up (OEM part number 34118526566). The Pads, are different.

IIRC they are only a safety pin to stop the pin backing out were it to vibrate loose. I wouldn't see an issue if they were replaced with an R-clip, as this is what the Brembo set up uses.

Ah I just ordered some from motorworks with replacement brake padsA quick note of thanks for the Accu details which allowed me to-like others- source E clips after managing to ping one across the garage never to be found againAgree that the Accu ones feel more robust than the originals and that their turnaround/delivery regime was organised and quick.
Accu are the place to go:
Yeah I noticed it was one section on the right front disc only! I'm replacing the pads as I just think they look a bit "meh" - they have some rust on them and just want to play it safe.Difficult to see precisely in the pics, but the pitting looks localised. My own rear disc (1200 TC) has a patch similar - it came after a winter ride, parking up for several days with no movement. Voi la, a symmetrical patch of pitting. That was a year ago! Not bothered. Obviously moisture + some salt content.
If the entire disc is pitted like your pic, then regardless, a replacement(s) is due

Sure. Brakes aren't something to mess with! Based on all the other comments (discs + pads replacement) to fix it, you can't go wrong with this wayAh I just ordered some from motorworks with replacement brake pads![]()

Just ordered their last set of discs - tired of playing around now. New pads arrived now but going to just do discs and pads together and be done with itYes, but the discs are used for both the Hayes & Brembo set up (OEM part number 34118526566). The Pads, are different.

Previous pads worn down to the backing? Then the pads replaced? or substandard discs fitted from new?.....discs need replacing and new pads whatever the cause. How on earth did the discs get pitted like that ?![]()
I'd get the calipers checked and cleaned to make sure they are operating smoothly -cant be too careful with front brakes.Just ordered their last set of discs - tired of playing around now. New pads arrived now but going to just do discs and pads together and be done with it![]()
I did gently operate the brake lever when I had the pads out and all 4 pistons on each side moved out fine. I must say, the bike does definitely stop as it is now. I am hoping new discs and pads tomorrow will sort this out.I'd get the calipers checked and cleaned to make sure they are operating smoothly -cant be too careful with front brakes.
You'll check them after putting it back together by going for a ride and testing the brakes.I did gently operate the brake lever when I had the pads out and all 4 pistons on each side moved out fine. Who/where would check the calipers for me? I have cleaned the calipers and a lot of "kunk" did come out.
